Kristen Stewart Reveals New Auburn Locks: Red Hot or Blazing Blunder?

'Eclipse' star Kristen Stewart made a grand entrance when she showed up for her 'Late Show With David Letterman' appearance in New York City earlier today. But it wasn't her short, one-sleeve black and silver dress that got everyone buzzing--it was her new, short auburn locks!

The actress, known for her shoulder-length dark brown tresses, surprised photographers and fans alike when she arrived to the Letterman show sporting a new cut and color. Stewart, who was photographed as recently as yesterday with brown hair, is in the middle of a huge press tour promoting the release of the latest in the Twilight saga, 'Eclipse.'

The new look is for her upcoming role in the film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's 'On the Road,' PEOPLE reports. She's set to play MaryLou.

While some prefer her more rocker-girl 'do, we're liking the softer look. As Stewart begins taking new roles outside of 'Twilight,' she'll need to shed her Bella-like image--and subdued-but-sexy red tresses might just be the perfect first step.

Stewart switched out her dark brown roots for a softer, auburn hue, which was the brainchild of her hair stylist, Adir Abergel and celebrity colorist Marie Robinson. "Kristen and I decided to take her color back to a color closer to her roots for the new movie she is filming, 'On The Road,' Abergel told StyleList. "Stewart is a natural blonde, and her strawberry blonde hair accentuates the color in her eyes, and really softens her look."

love her style. anyone that hates her is just another sucker to conformity..which sucks. just cause she aint like all those other girls...just cause shes original and new doesnt mean anything bad. in my opinion i think being original is one of the best qualities one could have. shes very pretty and has a cool attitude.
