'Melrose' Star Amy Locane Charged in Deadly Crash

'Melrose Place' actress Amy Locane-Bovenizer has been charged with vehicular homicide following a wine-fueled crash Sunday night in Montgomery, New Jersey, that left one woman dead and a man in critical condition.
Locane-Bovenizer was involved in a hit-and-run collision near Princeton with an unrelated car at around 9 PM Sunday. While attempting to leave the scene of that accident, she slammed her 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe into the passenger side of another vehicle, killing Helene Seeman, the
Star-Ledger reports. The driver of the car, Fred Seeman, was flown to a nearby hospital where he was listed in critical condition as of Monday afternoon.
In Princeton, just miles away from the fatal crash in Montgomery, the 38-year-old actress rear-ended a different vehicle, Somerset County Acting Prosecutor A. Peter DeMarco, Jr. said in a statement. Locane-Bovenizer fled the scene when the driver of that car attempted to call for help, so he followed her, telling police that the actress was "swerving and knocking down several mailboxes."
Following the Princeton collision, Locane-Bovenizer drove the 17 miles to Montgomery, where she struck the Seeman's car. Officers on the scene said she had alcohol on her breath and her eyes were bloodshot. She was arrested and taken to a nearby medical center to have her blood-alcohol level tested.
Locane-Bovenizer has been charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree assault by automobile. At her arraignment on Monday afternoon, Superior Court Judge Robert Reed set her bail at $50,000.
She faces 5-10 years in state prison if convicted, and in accordance with state law, she would be required to serve 85 percent of the term without parole.
While in custody, the actress admitted to having several glasses of wine that day. Locane-Bovenizer, who currently resides near the scene of the accidents in central New Jersey, may have been leaving the Off-Broadstreet Theatre in Hopewell, where a play in which she stars had a matinee showing on Sunday.
Locane-Bovenizer starred opposite Johnny Depp in the 1990 film 'Cry-Baby' and had a prominent role in the star-studded 1994 film 'Airheads' with Adam Sandler and Chris Farely. Other acting credits include 'School Ties' with Brendan Fraser and the 2002 indie film 'Secretary,' starring Maggie Gyllenhaal. She is best known for her run as aerobics instructor Sandy Louise Harling on the hit series 'Melrose Place.'
The actress married Mark Bovenizer in 2008 and the couple has two daughters, ages 3 and 1.

Agreed.
Amy Cocaine? Throw away the key! It's about time the courts do the right thing. That goes for all the other so-called "Celebrities", too. You or I would be cooling our heels in a cell!
I absolutely hate the fact that some people leave the scene of an accident and don't even stop to see if the other party is ok.
This is what I hope will happen. In court, she will have at least two high profile lawyers, she won't take the stand in her own defense. Then after being found guilty, before sentencing, and with a long run-on sentence, she will stand up and blubber, snot running down her face and say how sorry she is and that she did not know any better and that she had a poor childhood and how nobody understands her and it's not fair that she is going to be put in jail for what she will call a "tragic accident" and beg the judge to show her mercy and tell him that she is in rehab and to please, please, please give her another chance. The judge will not be yet another weak brained, sympathy induced, Hollywood star-struck judge that will believe her. Then, the judge will throw the book at her and lock her up for the maximum time allowed. I my humble opinions 1) 5-10 years is not enough. 2) She knew she was in trouble after the first car crash and set out again, only this time to kill one and maim another. 3)Hollywood folks always get the clean end of the stick where you or I would most definetely get the dirty end. (Which we would deserve and for some reason they percieve that they wouldn't.)
I am hoping that she will not get special treatment. Just because she is an actress. She killed someone. That is so irresponsible driving while intoxicated. Didn't think about her family and what this will do to her children.

To the user who hopes she doesn't get special treatment because she's an "actress". She probably WOULD if she were a famous actress like Angelina Jolie. But let's face it, no one except for high school girls know who this actress is. She's on a B-rated cheesy tv show on a non-major network. She'll get treated like everyone else, thankfully.
She is not important enough to get special treatment. Judges only suck up to A-List maybe B-list if they see potential!
What a P.O.S. Thing is she has a 1 and 3 year old and this is her behavior?
She should spend the rest of her LIFE in prison.

What a pos! She is lucky she didn't kill anyone I love or life in prison would look like a cake walk! I think people who are so selfish need to be locked up for life!
I am sure she will get off. Watch and see how hush hush this is going to be after the fact.

She won't serve a day b/c she's a celebrity.
NO,SHE WONT GET OFF EASY.Not in Jersey,The jails are full of dui idiots here. She had the money to pay for a taxi,to hell with her.
Hey people, this is a typical case of"Im OK to drive",dont drink and drive, save a life ,even if its not yours.A woman died because of her error.
Hopefully she gets a judge with a brain who'll put her away.
My brother is a drunk who goes to jail on a regular basis and the system lets him go and do it again and again. The lawyers and the judges are in each other's pockets.
It's sickening.

Take her license away for three years and a good spanking should be the punishment for not being able to hold your wine. :)

OMG! How terrible! My prayer are with the family of the woman who died and Amy's children.

dont drink and drive, take a cab !!!!!!!!

Yes! Take a cab! That one small piece of advice, if followed, would save SO many people SO MUCH. It is FAR cheaper to just take a taxi and not risk driving when you've been drinking. The money you spend on a taxi is only a tiny fraction of what the cost can be for driving under the influence EVEN IF THERE IS NO ACCIDENT. If you get popped, your auto insurance increase alone can amount to half a mortgage payment. In these cases of accidents and death/detruction, it is all the more obvious why you should not drive yourself. If you drink anywhere, you should think in advance and see yourself taking a taxi home no matter what. Just take the damn taxi and spend your last dime if you have to. Otherwise, it could cost you for the rest of your life (and someone else's).
I would not call her an actress. She loiters in front of a camera.
