'Melrose' Star Amy Locane Charged in Deadly Crash

'Melrose Place' actress Amy Locane-Bovenizer has been charged with vehicular homicide following a wine-fueled crash Sunday night in Montgomery, New Jersey, that left one woman dead and a man in critical condition.
Locane-Bovenizer was involved in a hit-and-run collision near Princeton with an unrelated car at around 9 PM Sunday. While attempting to leave the scene of that accident, she slammed her 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe into the passenger side of another vehicle, killing Helene Seeman, the
Star-Ledger reports. The driver of the car, Fred Seeman, was flown to a nearby hospital where he was listed in critical condition as of Monday afternoon.
In Princeton, just miles away from the fatal crash in Montgomery, the 38-year-old actress rear-ended a different vehicle, Somerset County Acting Prosecutor A. Peter DeMarco, Jr. said in a statement. Locane-Bovenizer fled the scene when the driver of that car attempted to call for help, so he followed her, telling police that the actress was "swerving and knocking down several mailboxes."
Following the Princeton collision, Locane-Bovenizer drove the 17 miles to Montgomery, where she struck the Seeman's car. Officers on the scene said she had alcohol on her breath and her eyes were bloodshot. She was arrested and taken to a nearby medical center to have her blood-alcohol level tested.
Locane-Bovenizer has been charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree assault by automobile. At her arraignment on Monday afternoon, Superior Court Judge Robert Reed set her bail at $50,000.
She faces 5-10 years in state prison if convicted, and in accordance with state law, she would be required to serve 85 percent of the term without parole.
While in custody, the actress admitted to having several glasses of wine that day. Locane-Bovenizer, who currently resides near the scene of the accidents in central New Jersey, may have been leaving the Off-Broadstreet Theatre in Hopewell, where a play in which she stars had a matinee showing on Sunday.
Locane-Bovenizer starred opposite Johnny Depp in the 1990 film 'Cry-Baby' and had a prominent role in the star-studded 1994 film 'Airheads' with Adam Sandler and Chris Farely. Other acting credits include 'School Ties' with Brendan Fraser and the 2002 indie film 'Secretary,' starring Maggie Gyllenhaal. She is best known for her run as aerobics instructor Sandy Louise Harling on the hit series 'Melrose Place.'
The actress married Mark Bovenizer in 2008 and the couple has two daughters, ages 3 and 1.

How did she make it 17 miles when the police had been called after the first accident?

With the victim of the first accident fallowing her . Personally I would have run her off the road and made a citizen arrest. It would seem that no one was on duty . Alcohol is conning ,baffling, powerful drug that takes and destroys lives ! The other story I read this morning ,was about a supermodel who was in contempt of court for not showing up for drug testing ! Her kids have gotten a lawyer to be an intermediary , apparently alcohol dose not discriminate either
I live in the area, and it wasn't 17 miles. More like 1.7 miles.
As you all know there are two different sets of laws in this country. There is the John Q. Public law that you are guilty till proven innocent. Then there is the look who I am, then the legal system sucks up to them. What ever happened to "we are all treated equal"?

My 25 year old son was recently killed in a car accident and so I have no patience left in me anymore. Please people if you know you will be drinking, plan a way home that is safe and definite. Also for god sakes slow down and never ever leave the scene of the accident. If she would not have ran a husband would still have his wife and running is just extra charges.I love you Sam and have not been able to live truly live since the day you were torn from me. Your death has affected hundreds of people especially me your mother, your dad, your sister and of course your three precious children 3,4,and seven. Please pray for us we don't know what to do.

I'm so sorry you lost your precious son. I, too, lost my son nearly two years ago and the pain is unbearable. I will keep your family in my prayers. Sending you peace and strength.....
Remember that he is always with you-God Bless
Dear Lord please give some peace to this suffering family.
I am crying very hard for you and you need to know that your son is with the Lord and you every minute.
learn how to forgive
we all share your grief, but stop others who fall prey to drinking and driving.
we all share your grief, but stop hating others who fall prey to drinking /driving.
Jesus is the auther of salvation ,he is mighty to save !
She looks like he-ll.Time has done her no favors.
And figures, another "Star" getting into a crash with their SUV.If they cant handle them (or need them) dont buy them!

Really, it's the SUV's fault because she can't "handle" it? It's the alcohol's fault - she can't handle it! I guarantee if you go out in your little mini car with alcohol in your system it's not going to be any better. I'm tired of people always having something/someone else to blame, instead of taking responsibility for their actions. Are you one of those who drinks and then says I'm fine, I can drive? Until people learn to take responsibility then many more innocents will die or be maimed and in pain for their rest of their lives. Get a clue people - don't drink and drive!!!

Sounds like paprazzi was chasing her. We don't always keep in mind, the difficulties of these famous people. I'm not sure this should be all her fault.

The paparazzi? What an ignorant response. It was the wine that made her so drunk to the point of putting her in a blackout. Alcoholism is a disease which affects most families in this Country and unfortunately they end up in jail or prison. Once they serve their time they may stay sober for a while but then once again return to that killer bottle.
Ask me, I drank for and wasted 35 years of my life. I have been sober for 7 years now and life has turned around. I went to jail several times and eventually ended up in prison for multiple offenses. Thank God I did not hurt or kills someones son or daughter. I had a disease which no words or counseling could control. I finally asked God to take the urge away and he finally did. Ask and thou shall receive.
The real victims in this are the person who died and her kids 1 and 3 who are now not going to have their mom. Yes, a DUI would have been not fun but running away and now having this on your conscious thats going to ruin her life.

Amy Locane did not play an aerobics instructor on Melrose Place-her character Sandy was an actress who was stalking Jake. She only lasted one season before Amy Locane left the show for bigger and better things. The researchers on AOL need to do their homework a bit better-and I would hardly say she was well known for the role.

I hope the family gets justice for what she did, no special treatment for her. Make a example out of her so other actors wiklk get a strong message. They think they can get away with anything by getting a slap on the wrist. WRONG Serious jail time for her. God bless the family she has destroyed.
