'Melrose' Star Amy Locane Charged in Deadly Crash

'Melrose Place' actress Amy Locane-Bovenizer has been charged with vehicular homicide following a wine-fueled crash Sunday night in Montgomery, New Jersey, that left one woman dead and a man in critical condition.
Locane-Bovenizer was involved in a hit-and-run collision near Princeton with an unrelated car at around 9 PM Sunday. While attempting to leave the scene of that accident, she slammed her 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe into the passenger side of another vehicle, killing Helene Seeman, the
Star-Ledger reports. The driver of the car, Fred Seeman, was flown to a nearby hospital where he was listed in critical condition as of Monday afternoon.
In Princeton, just miles away from the fatal crash in Montgomery, the 38-year-old actress rear-ended a different vehicle, Somerset County Acting Prosecutor A. Peter DeMarco, Jr. said in a statement. Locane-Bovenizer fled the scene when the driver of that car attempted to call for help, so he followed her, telling police that the actress was "swerving and knocking down several mailboxes."
Following the Princeton collision, Locane-Bovenizer drove the 17 miles to Montgomery, where she struck the Seeman's car. Officers on the scene said she had alcohol on her breath and her eyes were bloodshot. She was arrested and taken to a nearby medical center to have her blood-alcohol level tested.
Locane-Bovenizer has been charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree assault by automobile. At her arraignment on Monday afternoon, Superior Court Judge Robert Reed set her bail at $50,000.
She faces 5-10 years in state prison if convicted, and in accordance with state law, she would be required to serve 85 percent of the term without parole.
While in custody, the actress admitted to having several glasses of wine that day. Locane-Bovenizer, who currently resides near the scene of the accidents in central New Jersey, may have been leaving the Off-Broadstreet Theatre in Hopewell, where a play in which she stars had a matinee showing on Sunday.
Locane-Bovenizer starred opposite Johnny Depp in the 1990 film 'Cry-Baby' and had a prominent role in the star-studded 1994 film 'Airheads' with Adam Sandler and Chris Farely. Other acting credits include 'School Ties' with Brendan Fraser and the 2002 indie film 'Secretary,' starring Maggie Gyllenhaal. She is best known for her run as aerobics instructor Sandy Louise Harling on the hit series 'Melrose Place.'
The actress married Mark Bovenizer in 2008 and the couple has two daughters, ages 3 and 1.

Why do you have to say, a liberal judge, I have seen it from other judges too. The woman got killed and two little girls have a mother who hopefully has to go to jail for what she did.

Hello, my name is Jeremy Brooks and I have something to say about this Amy gal. This woman should not have been drinking in the 1st place. I did a stupid thing, and rode home w/someone who was drunk, well, slightly. I was lucky to still be alive. I learned a good lesson. Always choose a designated driver. This gal ruined many lives and putting her own children through this. She should never have had children to begin with. I hope she gets 40 plus years in jail.

Hey Jaun....if you're a recovering alcoholic...don't feel too proud....you hurt PLENTY of people even if you didnt kill anyone with your selfishness. If indeed you were an alcoholic, you were a liar, a cheat a theif and you devestated every life that you came into contact with. Disease? Ok, I don't blame anyone for being sick, like having cancer. Yet I DO blame people who don't get treatment for the disease that ravages everyone AND the person that has it.

Let's keep getting drunk and get behind the wheel of a
car. My best friend lost her daughter to a drunk driver
in Oct. of 2001, she was only 20 years old, she got t-boned,
so I don't feel sorry for anyone that gets caught drinking
and driving no pity at all. Hope the lady's husband lives
and takes her for everything she has.

Just like OJ... she gets away with murder

Jail! A mother of two small children has no business drinking and driving. Thinking only of herself and now another woman's dead and two children will be motherless. Selfish!

Very sad Amy should have called her husband or a cab shouldn't have drove. I think Amy needs jail time 10 to 15 years would be right.

Since it did not happen in Calif, hopefully she will do some time. In Calif since she is a celebrity she would have had to promise not to kill any more people, and serve 10 days in jail, but she would have been released after 1 day because of jail overcrowding.

She wasn't the aerobics instructor, FYI. She was the failed actress with the sometimes southern accent. She was on Melrose for half a season, I fail to see how that makes her a "star".
Reply
She better hope they have lots of alchol where she is going because when she sobers up, she is going to be one hell of a mess. This is terrible, she killed so many people in one night, she is going to want to kill herself when she sobers up.
Reply
That's terrible, why don't these people just get drivers riding around loaded like that, it's awful, take a taxi!

Maybe just maybe if our courts would treat everyone equal we wouldnt have so many unnecessary deaths from so called "famous" people. Others see what they get away with and feel they should get the same treatment. Instead of treating the "famous" better they should treat them worse or at least with justice and in this case, she needs to have the so called "book" thrown at her, but she wont. I bet the odds are she will walk unlike those she killed and changed so many lives because of her actions!

These idiots do not get enough time in jail, keep them in there and dont let them out.
