'Melrose' Star Amy Locane Charged in Deadly Crash

'Melrose Place' actress Amy Locane-Bovenizer has been charged with vehicular homicide following a wine-fueled crash Sunday night in Montgomery, New Jersey, that left one woman dead and a man in critical condition.
Locane-Bovenizer was involved in a hit-and-run collision near Princeton with an unrelated car at around 9 PM Sunday. While attempting to leave the scene of that accident, she slammed her 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe into the passenger side of another vehicle, killing Helene Seeman, the
Star-Ledger reports. The driver of the car, Fred Seeman, was flown to a nearby hospital where he was listed in critical condition as of Monday afternoon.
In Princeton, just miles away from the fatal crash in Montgomery, the 38-year-old actress rear-ended a different vehicle, Somerset County Acting Prosecutor A. Peter DeMarco, Jr. said in a statement. Locane-Bovenizer fled the scene when the driver of that car attempted to call for help, so he followed her, telling police that the actress was "swerving and knocking down several mailboxes."
Following the Princeton collision, Locane-Bovenizer drove the 17 miles to Montgomery, where she struck the Seeman's car. Officers on the scene said she had alcohol on her breath and her eyes were bloodshot. She was arrested and taken to a nearby medical center to have her blood-alcohol level tested.
Locane-Bovenizer has been charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree assault by automobile. At her arraignment on Monday afternoon, Superior Court Judge Robert Reed set her bail at $50,000.
She faces 5-10 years in state prison if convicted, and in accordance with state law, she would be required to serve 85 percent of the term without parole.
While in custody, the actress admitted to having several glasses of wine that day. Locane-Bovenizer, who currently resides near the scene of the accidents in central New Jersey, may have been leaving the Off-Broadstreet Theatre in Hopewell, where a play in which she stars had a matinee showing on Sunday.
Locane-Bovenizer starred opposite Johnny Depp in the 1990 film 'Cry-Baby' and had a prominent role in the star-studded 1994 film 'Airheads' with Adam Sandler and Chris Farely. Other acting credits include 'School Ties' with Brendan Fraser and the 2002 indie film 'Secretary,' starring Maggie Gyllenhaal. She is best known for her run as aerobics instructor Sandy Louise Harling on the hit series 'Melrose Place.'
The actress married Mark Bovenizer in 2008 and the couple has two daughters, ages 3 and 1.

We will have to face the facts that she will retain a good attorney, and most likely will get off with the shortest sentence possible, because we all know how the system works.

If I were the judge, she would be hanged at sunset. Too many celebrities walk away from drunk driving cases.

How about "Fleeing the scene of an accident"? If she hadn't been fleeing the first accident (the rear-ender) she wouldn't have hit the second car. And if she hadn't been fleeing the second accident she wouldn't have hit the third and killed one person and critically injured another. After the first accident she would have been taken off the road.

What she was doing drinking when she have two toddlers age 1 and 3??? How do her husband have to explain to poor babies that their mommy have to go to jail for years? What was she thinking that day? Very sorry for Helene's Family's loss and hope that her driver will pull through.

It's not possible to be drunk after consuming as little as she said. I think everyones getting on her case cause she's a celebrity and they're jealous that's all. Cut her some slack.

Sorry, I meant "lady justice"

Wow... Cry Baby is one of my favorite films ever. I feel terrible for the victim and their family. Some mistakes have much worse consequences than others.

Whatever happens to her....whatever.....I just feel bad for her two babies. She should have thought about her kids before she drove or at least before she drove away from the scene of the first accident.

Quick, call Rebecca Gayheart's lawyer!
This alleged human being deserves to have the book thrown at her and the key thrown away. You can't have two standards of justice just because she's an actress on the teevee.

Maybe Demi Moore , who believes that Roman Polanski shouldn't be punished for playing "hide the salami" with a child's rectum, will champion her cause ...

I bet the woman gets probation because she is a celebrity. Sad but I can't help but feel that way. They all get off with a slap on the wrist because they are special. If it where the other way around and the victim had killed her (Amy) you can bet they would pay.

sounds to me that there is more involved than just wine. i cant believe only 10 years for this with all the charges but the dui laws are flawed even in my state. but laws dont change drinking behavior only the person can do that she needs more time to think about her actions and do something about it
