'Harry Potter' Actress's Father and Brother Arrested for Threatening to Kill Her

Afshan Azad's father and brother threatened to kill the 23-year-old actress, E!Online reports. Azad, who plays Padma Patil in the 'Harry Potter' movies, was allegedly attacked on May 21.

Her father, Abdul Azad, and brother, Ashraf Azad, have both been charged with threatening to kill her during a fight in her Manchester home in May. Her brother, Ashraf, 28, has also been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Details about the alleged attack are sparse.

Abdul, 54, and Ashraf were in court earlier this week to face the charges brought against them and were subsequently released on bail. Court will reconvene on July 12 while committal proceedings occur to move the case to Manchester Crown Court.

The next 'Harry Potter' film starring the actress, 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1', opens in theaters November 19. Azad's role as Padma Patil is her first professional role.

She is very nice and sweet and also very beautiful. What kind of a father and brother are those? They don't love her. They should get the maximum penalty and should apologize big time to her. She does not deserve this type of threat especially by her own father and brother. What is the mother saying about this? I hope she divorces him and I also hope she throws her son out of the house. Those two guys are ***holes.

It all has to do with the customs of their culture. If you believe in God, then one should stay away from such pagan type movies. porn films, witchcraft, divinity all considered tools of evil and TV is the messenger of evil.

Honor killings can -- and do --occur in many cultures and religions. And this attack sounds like one was attempted. I hope for Miss. Patil's sake her progentor ( the man stopped being her father when he attacked his daughter ) and her sibling are convicted and jailed for this attemptd murder.

Does it really matter if they are Muslem? The simple fact they threatened to kill her is enough. Watch the news, every day there may be a story of a family member killing one another. Mothers killing their infants, kids killing their parents. Most were white. It is sad no matter what race or faith they are.

Nope, her family are hindu, but:

Her father and brother allegedly began arguing with Afshan over her boyfriend and demanded she should end the relationship. When she refused, they attacked and left her badly bruised.
