How Katy Perry Tamed 'Professional Prostitute' Russell Brand

Katy Perry's whirlwind romance with Russell Brand has been quite an adventure. The British comedian popped the question to Perry after only four months of dating while the two were vacationing in India in December 2009. Now, the 'I Kissed a Girl' singer opens up in August's Esquire UK about how she tamed the off-the-wall actor, who she admits "used to basically be a professional prostitute."

Perry reveals that she even made Brand wait to have sex, though he tried to make advances on the set of 'Get Him to the Greek.' In fact, she responded by throwing a bottle at Brand that "hit him smack dab on the head," she told Esquire. "Can you imagine the horrible feeling he had, when he was used to getting everything he wanted? I was like, 'You've met your match.'"

Brand and Perry met at the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2009 and have made their affection for one another known with around-the-world PDA ever since.

She also takes credit for taming Brand, who has spoken about his sex and drug addictions in the past. "He's an extremist, which can be both good and bad. I always needed someone stronger than me and I am, like, a [expletive] strong elephant of a woman. I say that hopefully in the humblest way I can."

Perry continues, "[We are] two divas in one house. It's like splitting the atom: it shouldn't happen."

Perhaps she is somehow rebelling against her strict evangelical upbringing. She seems naive, as though she is on a journey of self discovery and Brand is the one to take her on that journey. Let's hope he doesn't corrupt her.

Sorry, but someone's past shouldn't prevent them from having and deserving a future. Brand had a drug problem and had lots of sex.. and? He's not entitled to love now? Perry's standards and faith are gone now because of who she's fallen in love with? I can't stand it when anyone reads about someone and suddenly knows everything about them as a human being. I don't know either of them personally, but if they're happy, in love, aren't hurting anyone, and want a future together.. more power to them and I wish them both the best of luck.

why do yall care so much? yall know NOTHING about them and never will. Just like someone said earlier, God forgives everyone for their sins, so if Russell is tame now that he is with Katy, then Great! Not one sin is greater than another. and he who is WITHOUT sin cast the first stone. Thought so.

Saw him on the View pushing some movie and found him very strange. I find it really hard to see Katy with him.But, if weird is what she wants-she got her wish. Don't think it will last.

Wow, what a strong woman she is! She must have made this hideously ugly druggie and nympho wait to get in her panties for at least 10 minutes - or until he woke up from being hit in the head with a bottle. Obviously, they deserve each other. I guess we will have to be bored with the details of their break-up (within a few weeks, no doubt), and then hear the endless drivel about their infidelities, their drug and alcohol abuse. God help us all if they should get married and have kids and then we have to see the mags and tabloids blathering on about their lives. Who cares. Why no outcry about how much money these wastes of carbon make in a year? They support no one but their drug dealers and they help no one but their professional handlers. I wish they would all move to Cuba, Venezuela, China or better yet -Iran. Morons.
