Kelsey Grammer Slams 'Malicious' Father's Day Rumor

Last week, Kelsey Grammer's third wife, Camille Donatacci Grammer, pulled the plug on their 13-year marriage. It was reported by TMZ that the breaking point occurred on Father's Day, when the actor allegedly didn't fly home or call his kids, however, Grammer is now calling that rumor "malicious."

"The truth is I did call my kids that evening," he writes on his website, KelseyLive.com. "Frankly, I was surprised that they did not call me in the morning, but I was thousands of miles away and working that day so I didn't give it a second thought." The couple's two children, Mason, 8, and Jude, 5, are in Los Angeles with Donatacci.

"I called them to see how they were doing as I do almost every night at around the same time, 11 PM my time, 8 PM their time, just before they go to bed," he writes. "Mason had been upset earlier that day because she was missing me. I spoke to her for some time and reassured her that I loved her and that I would be seeing her soon."

"Gossip and the rumor mill always thrive during times like these, as in the Father's Day story. Whatever might be said, I ask that you take the 'high road.' I intend to do the same."

Grammer went on to explain the circumstances of their decision to divorce. "Camille and I had been discussing the possibility of a separation for some time before all this happened. She finally decided she should file. I respect her for this decision ... I hope to have a great partnership with her in the raising of our children."

Donatacci's lawyer filed a divorce petition last Thursday citing "irreconcilable differences," TMZ is reporting.

Donatacci, a 41-year-old former Playboy model and dancer, is seeking joint legal and physical custody of the children. She married the 'Frasier' actor in 1997, a year after they met at a party thrown by MTV.

As much as I've enjoyed Kelsey's shows, Cheers and Frasier, I get the feeling when he is on talk shows that he is extremely egocentric. Why else would he extensively travel for lengthy periods of time for his craft? He sure doesn't need the money and he has really young children. Does his need for audience prevent him from creating a satisfying career closer to home? His last try at a series was pathetic; he already has recognition, he should try something different if his ego can stand it.

Mr. Grammer seems to make bad choices in his selection of women to date and marry. I believe, however, that it was the responsibility of the childrens' MOTHER to encourage them to call their father on FATHER'S DAY. He seems genuine about his intentions for positive parenting, and I hope his ex will be kind and cooperative.

He was working in New York. He is on Broadway and had a show that day. Why didn't SHE fly with the kids to NYC to see him for Father's Day? It would have been a nice gesture to be nice to him for Father's Day, not expecting him to take the initiative to contact the kids. Most moms make sure that their 5 and 8-year olds have something ready to "surprise" their dads with on Father's Day. I say, he can't get away from her fast enough. I hope the kids will be ok.

grammer is just another sick-minded republican, who talks "family values", while he's swimming with diseases, from all of the "dancers" he's poked. He deserves every bad thing that's happened to him. Kelsey is great at being Frazier, but it sounds like he has trouble with the ladies. I hope next time he marries for love, not for looks. Looks will fade in time, but if he had real love, he wouldnt be getting a divorce.
Its the children that pay for these kinds of marriages.
