Goodbye Cleveland! 'American Idol' Tour Trimmed

No concert tour is safe this recession-slogged summer, and that includes the formally fool-proof trip for 'American Idol.' Tour organizer
LiveNation has quietly announced that eight stops on the American Idol Live! Tour have been scrapped, including arena shows in sizable markets like Toronto and Cleveland.
Others, including the one in runner-up Crystal Bowersox's Toledo, Ohio, have been rescheduled.
The top 10 singers for the hit show will no longer get to see Omaha, Winnipeg or Kansas City, among others towns. The tour was originally scheduled to end Sept. 16 in Portland, Maine, but is now slated to end Aug. 31 in Indianapolis. A show in Pittsburgh scheduled for Sept. 14 has not been canceled, but has been moved to July 21.
The long-running reality series suffered its worst-ever ratings this past season, which could account for the lack of interest in a live show. LiveNation has not given a reason for the cancellations.
Summer 2010 has already shaped up to be a bad one for long tours, and the 'Idol' news arrives just days after the revamped Lilith Fair trimmed 10 dates from its schedule due to a lethargic economy. Original 'Idol'
Kelly Clarkson quit the tour this week.
Here's a list off the eight nixed American Idol Live! Tour stops:
Aug. 21 -- Portland, Oregon
Rose Quarter
Aug. 26 -- Omaha

Aug. 27 -- Kansas City, Missouri

Wasn't much interest in seeing them in concert probably not so much about the recession but more about the lack of talent.

This shouldn't surprise anyone. Who do you think buys the teeny boppers tickets>>Mom and Dad. They also have watched two years in a row where those same stupid little teeney boppers voted on looks and a cruch instead of talent. This will be American Idols last year. I've already read AI is going to cater more to the younger market! Who do you think gives the children there money? DUH Simon knew when to jump ship!

So, what else is new? If a city has to be nixed...guess who...it's always Cleveland.

I think it's part recession, there are a lot of other more popular acts who have had trouble selling tickets this year and part no one cares about these people.

I thought they meant the Cleveland show on Fox was canceled.

Think you meant "formerly" not "formally."
