Is Bravo to Blame for Kelsey and Camille's Divorce?

Kelsey Grammer and his wife of 13 years, Camille Donatacci Grammer, announced last week that they are splitting up, and now everyone wants to know the real reason why. "Camille and I shared many wonderful things throughout our years together," the actor said on his website. "There were just a few things that we couldn't work out." So, what couldn't they work out and, come to think of it, why did she file for divorce? Sources tell me it's all about reality ... TV, as in Camille's desire to snare some fame of her own on the upcoming 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.' I'm hearing that Kelsey wanted nothing to do with it. Kelsey's Nightmare: Camille's Reality TV Dreams

When Kelsey Grammer's third wife Camille decided to end their 13-year marriage, it was reported that the final straw came on Father's Day when Kelsey, who is starring on Broadway, reportedly didn't fly home to LA or call his kids.

Now, Grammer is putting that rumor to rest, saying on his website, "The truth is I did call my kids that evening. Frankly, I was surprised that they did not call me in the morning, but I was thousands of miles away and working that day so I didn't give it a second thought."

So if it wasn't his relationship with his two children, Mason, 8, and Jude, 5, what did cause the split? Sources are telling me it's Camille's desire to finally step out of her famous husband's shadow and star in a Beverly Hills version of Bravo's hit 'Real Housewives' franchise.

"Camille misses her days in the spotlight as a Playboy model and dancer," a friend tells me. "After marrying 'Frasier' in 1997, Camille gave up her career to become his wife. Now, she has the opportunity to break out on her own in a reality TV show and she isn't going to let it pass her by."

Sources close to the couple tell me Kelsey wanted no part of the reality show and refused to appear in a single episode. "He's one of the biggest TV stars in the world," one insider tells me. "It doesn't matter how much he loves his wife, Kelsey would never appear on a reality TV show. He is starring in a huge Broadway hit, and appearing on Bravo as a real house-husband was simply never going to happen."

Sources also tell me that Kelsey does not want his children to appear in the reality show either. "Kelsey is a fantastic father who has worked very hard to keep his kids out of the spotlight. I can't imagine him agreeing to letting his children appear on TV just to help their mother advance her career," a friend of Kelsey's tells me.

Camille is seeking joint legal and physical custody of the children, whom Kelsey calls almost every night to see how they are doing.

"Although she has to be glamorous, she still has to be more 'middle America' and not as over the top. With that in mind, I gave her a mid-length layered bob. She can wear it so many different ways and commit to none. Her color was done very heavily blonde in front, while remaining her natural [color] everywhere else."

Greg explains that Vanessa sent e-mails with different ideas before the wig was handmade and flown to his fabulous salon in Manhattan. Then it was cut and colored based on Vanessa's skin tone and makeup, and Renee was born. Check Out Our Exclusive Pic:

On Fathers Day the Kids should call the father not the other way around. I beleive maybe she just wants her own fame. What a shame for the kids.

thats right. Father's Day - the kids should call him....or, it would have been great if SHE surprized DAD in NY with a visit from the kids - then go out together or something.

These two need to grow up although I agree with him about a reality show. If she wanted to get back to dancing I am sure there are opportunities for that unless she was actually a stripper then I am not sure that would a good career choice for a mother. Perhaps part of the problem was that she didn't carry the babies a surgate did one has to wonder just how close she is too the children. Kelsey did call his kids and she should have seen to it that they called him on fathers day.

schadenfraude: I wouldn't paint them both as shallow. Shallow would have been if Kelsey had OK'd the reality TV for himself and/or his kids. You just seem so terribly negative. Don't get so worked up about an AOL story.

Cant feel sorry for Kelsey AT ALL. He wanted to marry someone with a Playboy model mentality and this is what he gets. If he thinks she would have married him if he were a postman, he can think again. Money and fame. And he HAS to know this.

He's a Republican starring in a musical about a same sex marriage..What a HIPOCRITE and what an insult. I don't wish him well. And what does any guy expect by marrying a woman who shows off her privates to the world? Those Real Housewives shows are disgusting and an insult to women.
