Why America Laughed While Lindsay Cried!

It's hard to feel bad for Lindsay Lohan. It's hard for me to feel bad for Lindsay Lohan, at least. In my book, Lindsay has been given opportunity after opportunity to clean up her act and single handedly squandered each one. That's why when the starlet burst into surprised tears at Judge Marsha Revel's 90-day sentence on Tuesday, I couldn't muster one lick of sympathy.
Instead I had the opposite reaction. I laughed. Why was I guffawing at this girls' misfortune you may ask? There are five simple reasons.
1. I didn't believe Lindsay's tears - It's easy to forget after flops like "I Know Who Killed Me" and "Labor Pains", but Lohan (when she wants to be) is a very talented young actress (I believed she was a nerd in "Mean Girls" and two different people in "the Parent Trap") and it is not out of the realm of possibility that she could conjure up some very situation specific tears, especially with the live cameras rolling.
2. She won't spend the full sentence in jail - If we have learned anything from the Los Angeles Corrections system over the past few years it is that pretty young starlets never spend their entire sentence in jail. And sometimes they spend less than 1% of it (Nicole Richie, we're looking at you).
3. Jail will save Lindsay's life - Lindsay Lohan is a young woman spiraling out of control who hasn't met a consequence she didn't laugh at. Now that she finally has to face up to her misdeeds and take some much needed time away from her friends (unhealthy) and her family (crazy), she might figure out for herself what she needs to do to get her life together.
4. She was still a jerk (albeit a crying jerk) - Who writes F--U on their fingernails when they're going into a courtroom and know they will be put under a paparazzi microscope? An a--hole, that's who.
5. Lindsay's behavior means we will be subjected to dark times in the days to come - That's right, more Michael Lohan. Get ready for the Michael and Dina show as these two absentee parents battle for the spotlight to try to "save" their daughter. While, this made me laugh at first, then it also made me cry.

I laughed too, I also thought some where in the back of her mind she didn't think that jail was a possibility? I don't think it even phased her. She thought, I'm a star(HA) so no jail time for me. Guess again, I'm glad the judge did not cave on this one.

I think we laughed because she look genuinely surprised that SHE was going to have to face the consequences of her behavior. I believe she though she was above the law.
She was tweeting in the AM that there was a handbag sale that day and she was very excited about it. Clearly she thought she could continue to buy her way out of consequences of her actions.
Her arrogance and her contempt for the law and for the court and for this particular judge is what bought her the time. And, at least Nicole and Paris didn't lie and not show up at court appearances (tho they did show up late).
Yes, indeed...I laughed. I even giggled!
I DONT THINK JERKS AND SPOILED BRATS LIKE HER EVER LEARN ANYTHING..

she's stupid and needs 6 months in jail she cant even act anyway
She's the most damaged piece of goods in Hollywood. What in the heck makes her think she will ever get an A-List job again? She's toast.
I can't say I feel sorry for her. She squandered everything that she was handed. Maybe she should go and get an education, becuase she is really ignorant.
I too didn't believe the tears were real. BUT when I saw those fingernails I thought, here is a very inmature person. These are fingernails a 14 year old wears not a 24 year old "woman"

I am not a current fan of Lindsay... But... The nails were probably directed at the Paparazzi due to the fact that she cannot just go to court like the rest of us... It has to be covered by the paparazzi like a hawk...
What upset me was..when she talked to her attorny while the DA was speaking and the Judge Allowedit to happen. Lilo was controling that court. She was very disrespectful of the Judge.

She is a spoiled Brat!!. She has been able to laugh at the system long enough. Good for the judge to put her in jail. It might even save her life. Let her DRY out and be able to think clear headed so when she goes to REHAB again, she can hear.. But unfortunatly she is in denial of her addictions. The addictions are a symtom of the underlying problems she has.. She will need to "learn to live on lifes terms". and that does not mean that she is to be treated SPECIAL.. Good for that Atty to leave.. No one should be defending bad behavior..I pray she "GETS IT"

We shouldn't laugh at pathetic cases like Lindsay's. She's a troubled woman and needs professional help!
the lesson here is never accept treatment or probation . Its just a dog and hoop show. plead guilty, take your jail time
Lindsay seems to suffer from "Michael Jackson Syndrome", meaning no matter how odd and crazy she behaves, if it gets attention from the press it must be okay.
She won't serve the full 90 days in jail and will most likely be treated a tad bit better than the other inmates. She'll then be released to serve 90 days at some posh rehab center. Undoubtedly she'll promise to do better and get a sobriety pin. Ultimately Lindsay will be released to her unsuspecting public again where her wild antics will pick up where she left off. The end game is that Lindsay will have learned nothing morally positive from this.

I have no symapathy for Miss Lohan. I have a son who is an alcoholic and also refuses to get help or admit he is an alcoholic. Jail more than likely will not help Lohan. Especially after seeing how many of Hollywood's brats serve little or no time. She cares nor values human life. What will it take? Killing someone?

Unfortunately, Rosie, it will take Miss LoGal to kill someone intentionally or not for her not to get it. This is what happens when parents like hers put her in the LaLa land of HallucinaryWood in which she "thinks" she can get away with every damn thing she does. It says a lot about the cult of celebrity and the likes of Paris, Nicole, and yes, Miley Cyrus...and we as a country more or less eat it up. Fools like LoGal never ever learn that what they "think" is their world is the actual world at large and that the same laws will apply to them sooner or sadly later.
I've seen lots of poor lowlifes get out of spending much jail time. Why do you think there is so much crime? Everyone arrested seems to have a record.
And Ed, Miley has never been in any kind of trouble, so don't lump her in there. Miley is always respectful and never demands the star treatment. She even waits in line like the rest of us and gives mucho to charity.
If jail does not rehabilitate this spoiled woman, it will punish her for her law breaker behavior!
Slap her more jail time for the next violation.
Miley exposed a nipple and her crotch parts to our children numerous times and her "act" was full of sexual innuendos. Not to mention walking around in public with her underwear hanging out and the photos she posted to the internet. You go ahead and let your children be exposed to this stuff if you want but, luckily, some of us have better judgement. Children shouldn't be allowed into performances that contain adult content, period.
Jp Piazza said EVERYTHING that I wanted to say. Lindsey Lohan has literally squandered EVERY opportunity that's been given to her to rehabilitate herself. She makes shameful amounts of money that normal, hard-working, everyday Americans can only dream about, and blows it on stupid drugs, alcohol, or designer clothes and accessories. Then when she gets sent to jail, she cries and says it isn't fair. Give me a friggin break.
