Why America Laughed While Lindsay Cried!

It's hard to feel bad for Lindsay Lohan. It's hard for me to feel bad for Lindsay Lohan, at least. In my book, Lindsay has been given opportunity after opportunity to clean up her act and single handedly squandered each one. That's why when the starlet burst into surprised tears at Judge Marsha Revel's 90-day sentence on Tuesday, I couldn't muster one lick of sympathy.

Instead I had the opposite reaction. I laughed. Why was I guffawing at this girls' misfortune you may ask? There are five simple reasons.

1. I didn't believe Lindsay's tears - It's easy to forget after flops like "I Know Who Killed Me" and "Labor Pains", but Lohan (when she wants to be) is a very talented young actress (I believed she was a nerd in "Mean Girls" and two different people in "the Parent Trap") and it is not out of the realm of possibility that she could conjure up some very situation specific tears, especially with the live cameras rolling.

2. She won't spend the full sentence in jail - If we have learned anything from the Los Angeles Corrections system over the past few years it is that pretty young starlets never spend their entire sentence in jail. And sometimes they spend less than 1% of it (Nicole Richie, we're looking at you).

3. Jail will save Lindsay's life - Lindsay Lohan is a young woman spiraling out of control who hasn't met a consequence she didn't laugh at. Now that she finally has to face up to her misdeeds and take some much needed time away from her friends (unhealthy) and her family (crazy), she might figure out for herself what she needs to do to get her life together.

4. She was still a jerk (albeit a crying jerk) - Who writes F--U on their fingernails when they're going into a courtroom and know they will be put under a paparazzi microscope? An a--hole, that's who.

5. Lindsay's behavior means we will be subjected to dark times in the days to come - That's right, more Michael Lohan. Get ready for the Michael and Dina show as these two absentee parents battle for the spotlight to try to "save" their daughter. While, this made me laugh at first, then it also made me cry.

The loser is YOU if you really see her as any kind of role model or idol. People like you are part of the problem for her and not the solution. Get a clue, she needs this and so much more. If you think so is so wonderful, you'd want what is best for her, not perpetuate her bad behavior!

I didn't think anything was funny about what happened in court to Lindsey, not to say she wasn't deserving but she is young and 'everyone makes stupid mistakes in their lives.

May GOD lead her down the right path.

I don't believe sitting in a tiny jail cell is good for anyone that hasn't done a terrible deed in life!

She probably won't serve much time if she does at all!! She won't be able to escape the rehab though, not that it will do much good, she is on a lot of meds... I'm not sure of the names of all of them, I remember 2~~~Zoloft and Dilaudid and from what I heard (from her Father) that Dilaudid is stronger than Heroin!!! So Until she gets off of that she will always have a problem. I also see nothing but a SNOB and someone who really thinks she is better than others and no one is better than another human being!!

Wasn't Nicole Richie sentenced to two days in jail and served 82 minutes? That's around 3% of her sentence. Fact check.

Sorry, but my math major sister was going nuts over this. Direct all anger and sarcasm to her. I'm just posting this to shut her up.

I think her fingernails were for the judge who she definitely say anything bad to and to the papparazzi and everyone who might laugh at her. Her dad wants her in a rehanb BEFORE jail but i think she needs jail 1st. That might scare her straight.

What is really sad is that there are so many mean spirited people in the world that would laugh at someone's misfortune like most of you people. I doubt most of you have a pot to crap in, therefore most of what you say about Lindsey Lohan is just because you are jealous of her,for her money, looks or whatever. The world definitely needs less drunks on the highway, but it could also do without so many mean judgemental people. People who laugh at others for their misfortune will soon pay their own price.gd it

Lohan wasn't crying because she can't drink. Alchohol is the least of her problems, you are all being too simplistic. 90 days or 10, lohan has a well known addiction to hydromorphone a powerful narcotic. (not to be confused with weak hydrocodone)

Drinking and drugging do not make an actress. Sex on the screen is disgusting. If Lindsey thinks this makes an actress, she better start all over again. The movie producers better start wiith some decent movies or this country will never get back it,s morals. Love the great movies from the past. Nothing but glorified sex and crime in them now. Get smart all of you producers. All you know is money, but what about morals. Truthfully I am tired of looking at movies with no theme in them. This is why our youths have gone down stream. Maybe The reason these Child stars get so out of control is because no one has enough guts to treat Them like normal kids . People laugh at her because they are jealous and like to see those that have achieved stardom, fall. People are mean. I feel bad for her; i think she is plenty screwed up; she obviously has a slew of personal and emotional issues. I dont laugh when others struggle even a "star" like Lindsay Lohan. I hope that she will finally save herself.... so self destructive; and very much a shame and a waste of a talent.

I feel sympathy for her. We have never heard her opinions on any of the subjects mentioned, only tabloid journalism making statements about her flaunting the rules. She has a perfectly awful family who jump into the spotlight at every opportunity whether its about their daughter's success or failures in life. Think about how screwed up someone can get from those kind of family values. She is to be pitied, not hated and dismissed. She had talent and now is squandering her opportunities. Sad truly.

To the sickos here who are bashing and hysterically laughing over Lindsay's situation, when walking down a street do you laugh at the people who are down and out on the streets? Would you laugh at your own family members and friends or would you like it if someone were to laugh at them? Were you all raised to be so mean spirited? I agree that Lindsay should go to jail, and I hope with that and rehab she can pull herself out of this. I don't think it's funny to laugh at anyone who is self-destructing.

I don't wish this Lindsey anything bad, but in contract there is a lady in Iran expectint to be stoned to death at any time. What is the problem with doing a few days in an American jail? Maybe, afterwards Lindsey will be a more responailbe person and not drink and drive, and keep court dates. If she has all this money for lawyers than mabe her money would be better spent paying a driver 24/7 -365...she could drink all she wanted and be happy.
Even better, stop drinking and help pay for a lawyer for the lady in Iran. The clock on her death sintance is ticking and soon she will die if something can't stop it.

She is a spoiled brat who thinks she is above the law. She is a hazard to herself and others while in public. Any other normal citizen would have been behide bars a while ago. Have fun in jail!
