Carlos Santana Is Engaged to Drummer Cindy Blackman

Guitarist Carlos Santana popped the question to his girlfriend and drummer Cindy Blackman during his July 9 concert in Tinley Park, Ill. After she accepted, the just-engaged couple kissed, and the audience broke out into cheers. "Cindy and I are blessed to have found each other," Santana told Us Magazine in a statement. "Being in love is a gift from the universe, and the spirit and vibrations that come with it are infinitely powerful. I look forward to expressing that incredible energy through my music, and in helping to tip the balance toward more love in the world with what Cindy and I share."

Blackman is a jazz and rock drummer who has recorded and toured extensively with Lenny Kravitz. She's also played with a wide range of artists, including Pharoah Sanders, Cassandra Wilson and Bill Laswell.

The engagement comes almost two months into the first leg of the 'Universal Tone Tour.'

This will be Santana's second marriage; his wife of 34 years, Deborah, filed for divorce in 2007.

well, big friggin' deal even if he was smokin' a doobie every once in a while. the 1st time i ever copped a buzz off one of them little doobies was at a santana show back in the early 70's. AND!! WHAT A SHOW IT WAS TOO!!!!!!i think it's quite remarkable that he was married to the same gal for 34 years.

I'm a DRUMMER and for years the lead singer and guitar players have been getting first crack (NO PUN INTENDED, much) at the groupies. FINALLY THE DRUMMER SCORES and HE IS A she....on top of that, the prize(?) is A LEAD GUITARIST.....will the insults never stop???? No wonder we like to beat on things.....ALSO NO PUN INTENDED, REALLY.
