Jon Hamm and Rebecca Hall Heat Up W's August Issue

'Mad Men' star Jon Hamm may be best known for his portrayal of incorrigible ad man Don Draper on 'Mad Men,' but it's his latest role as a dedicated police officer in September's 'The Town' that has critics buzzing. Hamm co-stars with 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona' actress Rebecca Hall, who plays a bank manager who unwittingly enters into a relationship with a criminal, played by Ben Affleck, who also serves as the film's director. Hamm and Hall share the cover of August's
W magazine, in which the stars discuss success, morality and the return of the grown-up film.
On making movies for a mature audience:
Hamm: It's an adult movie. Those are in short supply. I hope that there's still an audience for that kind of film, where you can go see adults behaving like adults.
On realizing their love of performing:
Hall: I can't remember a time when I didn't want to be an actor. It has always just been an inevitability on some level.
Hamm: I played Winnie-the-Pooh in first grade. I was an early adopter of standing up in front of people and looking like an idiot.
On taking the slow road in Hollywood:
Hamm: I guess the benefits of my trajectory were learning humility, learning to be patient and learning how the system works in some way. But I think the benefits of Rebecca's path are that you get to spend some great years doing some pretty cool s**t. Your 20s are fun. If you can manage to also do good work, which Rebecca clearly has, then you're very lucky.
On Hamm's sensitive side:
Hall: He's proper manly, like Gregory Peck, old-school. He hangs around with the boys and does sports. But he can talk to women about emotions and shoes?
Hamm: Absolutely. Can and do ... I think the definition of a man's man has shifted in recent time ... Now it's a little vulgar, kind of lowbrow, adolescent. I'm not that guy. Part of being an adult is treating women like women.

Wow, that is one great picture. And I didn't think I could fall in love with Jon Hamm any further, but "Part of being an adult is treating women like women" just pushed him further into my heart. There should be so many more men like him.
