Tape 2 of Mel Gibson's Continuing Downward Spiral of Rage Emerges

As you may have heard by now, Mel Gibson's in some serious hot water. Actually, "hot water" is pretty much the understatement of the century. It's more like a steaming vat of nuclear waste, if a vat of nuclear waste could also spew out endlessly vitriolic rants that manage to offend and horrify virtually anyone unlucky enough to be in earshot. After years of making headlines for his homophobic, sexist and anti-Semitic episodes (read our full roundup of Mel Gibson WTF-ery here), a much-buzzed-about audio tape leaked last week, containing sound bite after cringeworthy sound bite of Gibson's verbal assault against ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva (whom he has a child with). And naturally, like any Gibson project, there's a sequel. And like any good sequel, it's about a thousand times more explosive than the first. Our analysis of the newest release, or as we call it, stop two on the Mel Gibson farewell tour, after the jump.

First off, let's talk about that tape! The newly-leaked audio (which you can listen to over at RadarOnline -- WARNING EXTREMELY GRAPHIC, OFFENSIVE, DISGUSTING, ETC.) is hands-down the most disturbing thing we've ever had the displeasure of listening to. A manic, breathless Gibson shouts for eight long minutes, repeatedly threatening to kill Grigorieva via baseball bat and most damningly (as if we could narrow it down to just one moment) admits to hitting her and knocking out two of her teeth in a drunken episode as she clutched onto their young daughter. "You have no f***ing soul!" Mel screams. And strangely enough, he's not referring to himself.

Let's be honest, folks -- there is no bouncing back from this. At this point, the only thing that could make us think any less of PEOPLE magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive' for 1985 would be if he, well, actually there is nothing (until the threequel, of course). That's how destructive these tapes are. Can anyone legitimately picture him headlining a film ever again? Some light romantic comedy with Meg Ryan perhaps? Voicing an animated fairy tale prince? More like retreating to a far-off island (which he presumably owns) and living a life of isolation and hopefully some serious remorse. That's only if he doesn't end up in jail first. Yes, our forecast is grim for old Mel and we're definitely curious to see how this unravels (or explodes as the case may be).

for those defending mel: that woman may have broken the law taping that conversation without his knowledge but who would have believed her if she hadn't. would you believe that mel gibson were capable of this kind of violence and lunacy. now everyone knows mel for the crackpot he is. he made some great movies but it doesn't give him the rigt to treat anyone that way. go ahead, condemn the woman for being a goddigger and for breaking the law if necessary but mel needs help. defending him isn't going to make him a better person.

Ohhh Mel....you could use some intense therapy (not meds), a humbling situation for sure; I doubt it will make a difference either way. I hope she takes it all and leaves you in a low rent apt. for the rest of your life. Knocked her teeth out? Really??? The mother of one of your many genetically screwed children??? Let's hope they have little influence from you in their lives.

I can't believe such a big deal is being made of this. I think we've all had fights with our ex's and ranted and screamed.. And are they serious? Lose his career over this? If tiger woods got through having several extra marital affairs and a physical fight with his spouse which seems much worse than Mel's situation, Mel will get through it.

I was thinking the same thing, Jackie! We Americans are nothing if not great pretenders. The average Joe/Josephine doesn't have to worry about their dirty laundry being heard by the world. There are a couple things that I question: (1) why are we not hearing about his dx as bi-polar and (2)why did she wait for 5 months before releasing, what sounds doctored to me, the tape?

Sure, Mel sounds more than a little unhinged. His use of the c word is offensive. Threatening to put a baseball bat to his infant's mother's head makes one sit up straight. But did anyone else hear the pain, the desperation, in his voice? He's going to pieces and Oksana suggests ... medication? I'd like to hear from Mel's kids with his first wife - if they saw or heard this type of behavior I agree with Jeb Buckingham - he's starting to sound like OJ Simpson. But if not, if this is Mel going off the rails at this stage of his life, how about trying to find out how ungracious, how deplorable and how hurtful this Russian girl has been? Folks, there are two sides to every story and every disagreement, especially in relationships, and I have to believe her behavior had to trigger some of these responses (unless he's really gone and lost his mind).

Say what you will about Mel but a law was broken and he was damaged!! The law is wire tap, he (Mel) wasn't told the call was recorded; second she leaked it to the press to do additional damage to him. Mel has a right to toss her cheap a** in jail and take custody of the child!

A child molester? A serial killer? A judge who makes verdicts allowing the stoning to death of women? Someone who tortures animals? You get the point.
