Bret Michaels: I'm Not Engaged ... Yet.

Despite reports that rocker Bret Michaels has proposed to his on-again, off-again girlfriend of 16 years, Kristi Lynn Gibson (via Star), he says it's not true. "No. We are not engaged yet," Michaels said during a CBS Early Show interview on Wednesday morning."We're a work in progress." Although Gibson has been spotted with serious bling on her finger, Michaels called it "a promise ring ... a friendship ring, with benefits. That's what we call it."

Earlier this week, sources told Star Magazine that Michaels proposed after the Fourth of July holiday weekend while the pair were at his ranch near Scottsdale, Arizona.

"Bret felt like now was the time because Kristi has been through so much with Bret and has been by his side every step of the way," a friend of the couple told Star. The friend said Michaels has changed since his brain hemorrhage earlier this year.

The couple has two daughters together: Raine Elizabeth, 10, and Jorja Bleu, 5.

He wasn't all that. He had a sympathy win due his illnesses. Holly should have won 'Celebrity Apprentice' b/c she worked twice as hard as him and put her all into the challenges. He came across very phony during that show. He almost quit a few times, caught an attitude a few times, and didn't support project managers when he knew some of the contestants were out of line. So him being this 'great guy' is far-fetched.

Is this guy still promoting his new cd or book ?? I guess it`s a good idea for her to get that life insurance policy on Brett while he`s still alive.

I think he should just marry her and get it over with. Unless or course she doesn't want to be married to him. Which I don't think is the case if she has been out and about showing off a promise ring.

My husband and I were together for 14 years before we married, but that's only because we wanted to get his and my children raised first. Three kids and two ex wives made me hold off, even though we lived together (in sin) for all those years. 21 years later and we are still together and very very happy. His ex's can't stick their noses into our business now.

you poor folks really still think he was 'near death'. it was serious, but his agent, donald trump, and the usual spinmeisters made it more dire than it was to up his celebrity. i barely knew the guy, as did many others, now he's a houshold name. no wonder fox news is number one, and the dems are about to lose the house to a bunch of whackos. the corporate media, and the general stupidity of the american ppl is to blame for our troubles.

I saw him in concert this past weekend and he is still just as talented as he has always been. His new CD, Custom Built has some really good songs on it. And his re-make of Every Rose Has Its Thorn sounds awesome! You can say whatever you want but the guy is talented, always has been and is still cranking them out. Congrats to him and Kristi, and blessings for continued good health.
