Joy Behar: Mel Gibson Is Not Welcome on 'The View'

Although Whoopi Goldberg defended Mel Gibson on 'The View,' co-host Joy Behar told 'The Insider' that the actor isn't welcome on their program.

"Barbara [Walters] would not allow him on the show," she says.

"Barbara's Jewish, he's an anti-Semite, he's a racist ... so he's done," Behar said, adding that the show would never grant him an opportunity to defend himself.

The tapes, of which RadarOnline.com has released three parts thus far, feature an enraged Gibson bellowing at the mother of his 8-month-old daughter, Oksana Grigorieva, relentlessly employing C-words, F-bombs and, sadly and disturbingly, racial slurs including the N-word.

"I know Mel, and I know he's not a racist," Whoopi said on 'The View' on Monday. "I have had a long friendship with Mel. You can say he's being a bonehead, but I can't sit and say that he's a racist having spent time with him in my house with my kids. I don't like what he's done, make no mistake."

Behar points out she does not agree with her co-host. "I am surprised, but that's her position, it's called 'The View.'" Behar's full interview will air July 13 on 'The Insider.'

So, Mel Gibson is being rewarded for his recent actions by NOT being allowed on "The View." I would think that to penalize him, being on that insipid television show would be part of his punishment.

I so totally agree with you. I think I watched that show for five minutes....once....and saw it for what it is, never watched again.

Totally agree! Great, lets call our show THE VIEW, but it will only be OUR view! Almost sounds kind of prejudiced, but that could not possibly be right, because only Mel is prejudiced. Cant Believe anybody actually cares what BarBara-WaWA thinks about anything!

Love it! Going on the View or Behar's show would make him straighten up. I'm no fan of Gibson's but at least I can watch his movies. That's more than I can say about these women.

This Poor guy Mel Gibson, got sucker pubched , duped, and had his clock cleaned by a noted Money Grabbin skank..
My money says he did her a few times when he was heated, and forgot the condom, she tells him a month after they are dating she is going to have his child, and then starts turning the screws on him.. that skank drove the poor guy all the way over the edge.. when all the money is gone, Mel will get custody, and at least he will have a child to love him..

Ur so correct , as if Joy Behar's point of view counts. If I was Walters I would ask Mel Gibson to appear on the View, maybe the ratings would pick up.

I wrote to The View, years ago asking if the women ever watched themselves on TV. The screaming made my task of laundry folding very stressful. How that horrible show has been broadcast for so many years eludes me, especially that annoying Joy Behar who isn't as funny as she may think.

I agree. I tried watching again this summer - boring. Can Elizabeth be any dumber, Whoopi more annoying? How can she defend Gibson's stupidity? Argh - this show has to go. No relevance whatsoever.
