Joy Behar: Mel Gibson Is Not Welcome on 'The View'

Although Whoopi Goldberg defended Mel Gibson on 'The View,' co-host Joy Behar told 'The Insider' that the actor isn't welcome on their program.

"Barbara [Walters] would not allow him on the show," she says.

"Barbara's Jewish, he's an anti-Semite, he's a racist ... so he's done," Behar said, adding that the show would never grant him an opportunity to defend himself.

The tapes, of which RadarOnline.com has released three parts thus far, feature an enraged Gibson bellowing at the mother of his 8-month-old daughter, Oksana Grigorieva, relentlessly employing C-words, F-bombs and, sadly and disturbingly, racial slurs including the N-word.

"I know Mel, and I know he's not a racist," Whoopi said on 'The View' on Monday. "I have had a long friendship with Mel. You can say he's being a bonehead, but I can't sit and say that he's a racist having spent time with him in my house with my kids. I don't like what he's done, make no mistake."

Behar points out she does not agree with her co-host. "I am surprised, but that's her position, it's called 'The View.'" Behar's full interview will air July 13 on 'The Insider.'

Funny how the media is dragging poor Mel through the mud calling him a racist, yet you have the New Black Panthers out there saying they want to kill white people and kill their babies and no one says a freakin word??? Whats wrong with the media??? Thank God for Fox News or the whole country would be in the dark. Sad, very sad.

Who gives a flying F what Barbara Walters or The View thinks? I mean how serious can you take an organization who picks and chooses who should or shouldn't defend themselves!! I would love to see everyone elses private conversations taped and then published. A lot of words get said when the doors to our private homes are shut. We've all said things that we shouldn't have at one point or another, this woman is just trying to cash in as much as possible. She's a gold digger, what did ya expect?

..Funny, how these tapes just seem to drag out..a little at a time. Almost like someone knew exactly how to milk 'em, perhaps with the help of a public relations firm. Sure does sound like a women scorned, to me.
As for Joy.....who cares. Typical Lib doesn't believe in allowing anyone a view point that disagrees with her own. Whose "View?"

I agree with most of what you said. It's too bad Mel drinks, it's caused him nothing but trouble. His girl friend knows how to push his buttons and that's what she did and then recorded the mess that came out afterwords. At one time he was the most handsome man in Hollywood, now he's older and for some reason he took up with a barracuda woman. She lead him to his ruin. If alcohol had not been involved in Mel's life, he would still be admired. Drinking starts out fun, and then takes away all you dignity. The same could be said about drugs. I hope Mel recovers from this and gets his life back together.

As I said before...Mel's the best...he's got problems...but I think the media makes WAAAAy too much out of this...I also think Joy and Baba wawa should shut the hell up...God, like they know it all...Mel, still love ya!!!

It is to bad that a good man became involved with a woman who only wanted fame and fortune. She used her wiles to ensnare a man who should have known better and now he is paying the price. For her to be so vindictive because a relationship failed is beyond words. She should be happy with what she received, a beautiful baby girl and a father who is offering not only financial support but also meeting his fatherly obligations. Since her five minutes of fame are up, she also wants to ruin Mel. She knew what she was getting into but thought she could change him. Too bad the View doesnt bring both parents on and see who is the real villian. She should not be raising a child. Her interests are not benefical to the health of the child. Mel is no angel, but to air dirty laundry and use a child and the media to get what she feels is rightfully hers, is wrong. She should not be raising the child and social services should intervene. This is not about the child, or Mel, it is about a woman who wanted it all and feels she is not getting what she deserves.

My gawd, how can you defend such a hateful, scary, asbusive PIG. He can have his own opinions no matter how disgusting. But his hatred of women and abusive rants toward the mother of his daughter are awful and inexcuseable. There was such hatred in his voice. He was panting like a mad dog. He needs help. I think he's capable of murder. What an angry, hateful human being. I'd be afraid of him.

I so agree with you Lisa. This is about a gold digger who couldn't get her singing career off the ground who is sore and upset that Mel didn't actually marry her and now wants to ruin his career. She has a track record of getting pregnant by actors and too bad he was stupid to fall for her and ruin his marriage but she needs to pay too and not just him cuz it took two to create this mess.
