Joy Behar: Mel Gibson Is Not Welcome on 'The View'

Although Whoopi Goldberg defended Mel Gibson on 'The View,' co-host Joy Behar told 'The Insider' that the actor isn't welcome on their program.

"Barbara [Walters] would not allow him on the show," she says.

"Barbara's Jewish, he's an anti-Semite, he's a racist ... so he's done," Behar said, adding that the show would never grant him an opportunity to defend himself.

The tapes, of which RadarOnline.com has released three parts thus far, feature an enraged Gibson bellowing at the mother of his 8-month-old daughter, Oksana Grigorieva, relentlessly employing C-words, F-bombs and, sadly and disturbingly, racial slurs including the N-word.

"I know Mel, and I know he's not a racist," Whoopi said on 'The View' on Monday. "I have had a long friendship with Mel. You can say he's being a bonehead, but I can't sit and say that he's a racist having spent time with him in my house with my kids. I don't like what he's done, make no mistake."

Behar points out she does not agree with her co-host. "I am surprised, but that's her position, it's called 'The View.'" Behar's full interview will air July 13 on 'The Insider.'

who cares about the view. I tried watching it once and it almost made me throw up. Just a bunch of whacko women gossiping.

Joy B and her show are the most disgusting pieces of liberalism I have ever encountered. Cant stand her or her show and no longer watch HLN since her show started. Surprised the show wasnt called JUDGE JOY. It seems an appropriate title.

Mel Gibson was raised by a sadistic, controlling, racist Father who beat Mel Gibson and taught him anti-semitism. Mel is a piece of trash. He believes women should be barefoot and pregnant not have a mind. if you are a woman and you are supporting him you really need to look at your relationships with men. why the View didn't ream him for the way he treats women is beyond me.

Those of you defending Mel should have your heads examined. He's been in trouble long before that gal entered his life. He's so full of himself, but he's nothing but a drunk, an anti-semite, a racist and an egomaniac.

I can't stand joy. Mel should have known better, his girlfriend tried to get her talons into Timothy Dalton and he was smart enough not to marry her also. I had a crush on him (Timothy)until I found out he actually slept with Whoopy. Thats just gross. Mel needs to grow up and control his outbursts, and thank God that he's never lowered himself to be on the view.

It's not a woman on the view that is righteous, they all have sinned. Joy Behar had lived with a man for 20 some years and he still won't marry her even after he gave her a ring and Barbara Walters was laying up with a man years ago. That show has these women on that are so liberal that anything goes with them and they want to make judgement on someone else? Joy thinks she is an authority on everything and I think she's nothing. Can't stand her loud mouth.
