Larry King Calls Howard Stern 'Worthless,' Stern Says 'He's a Frog'

Howard Stern and Larry King Bash Each Other

Howard Stern thinks Larry King is both a "loser" and "the luckiest man in show business," according to the New York Daily News' Gatecrasher, citing the shock jock from a weekend Hamptons party.

But those were far from the worst of Stern's words -- he called the soon-to-be-retired CNN newsman a "f***ing ass****" on his satellite radio show Monday, after hearing the 'Larry King Live' host bashed him in a magazine interview last week.

"No, I wouldn't want to be compared to Howard Stern," King, 76, initially said when Steppin' Out magazine asked if Stern, 56, might make a fitting replacement for his nightly slot (King will sign off this fall). "He's not tasteful at all. You go to the least common denominator and that's Howard Stern. I regard Howard Stern as worthless."

The Daily News' columnist informed Stern of King's comments over the weekend in Southampton, NY. "It's alleged he was banging his wife's sister and he's saying that I'm tasteless?" Stern replied, reportedly incredulous. "He's a frog ... an imp and he's the luckiest man in show business."

Stern gave a harsh sum-up of King's career: "He did overnight radio. He got no ratings. He moved to CNN, where he had no competition. As soon as MSNBC and Fox News gave him a little bit of competition, the cards folded. Let's be honest, he didn't retire willingly. The man had one foot in the grave. It's obvious, he is no longer relevant."

While the shock jock indicated no plans to take over King's program (or to join 'American Idol,' it should be noted), he hypothesized that if he did slide into King's chair, "I would do everything that Larry doesn't do because Larry's a loser and he lost his entire audience."

King declined the News when asked for a rebuttal.

15 minutes Regina. Where have you been? Try closer to 30 years. Howard Stern is the man, and has been around for a long time.

Larry King is just angry because Howard keeps slamming him and his wife, Sean, who lied on Howard's show and said she wasn't cheating on Larry. Then agreed to take a lie detector, and then backed out. Larry is a turd, and he can't even remember his guests names anymore. He mixed up Ringo and George's names and he thought Roman Polanski was Charles Manson. Time to hang it up Larry. Howard is the KING. Don't be a hater.

If you don't like Howard you don't have to listen.. there's a whole dial on your radio, that is if you even have satellite. I happen to be a huge fan, he is the most honest, real and quite frankly the best interviewer out there, he asks the questions people want to here none of that cookie cutter b.s.

i am not a big fan of howard stern, but i gotta give the guy kudos for bashing larry king.
king is absolutely horrible and, as stern noted, damn lucky to have lasted as long as he has.
hes arrogant as hell and a softball-tossing interviewer. bad excuse for a journalist, although i wouldn't go so far as to call LK a journalist. more like a giddy fan disguised as a journalist.

People Howard is the King Of all Media. Deal with it. Larry King sucks period. His interviews are boring and outdated. Howard's on the other hand are no holds bar. They are funny and inquisitive. So what if he asks you your favorite sexual position. I love that stuff. People that hate Stern need to get laid. Ever listen to Bubba the Love Sponge?
