Bristol Palin Getting Married ... To Levi Johnston!

Perhaps the most on-again, off-again politically tinged relationship we've all had the pleasure of following has taken a new turn: Bristol Palin, 19, and Levi Johnston, 20, are engaged again, Us Weekly exclusively reveals.

"We got engaged two weeks ago," Bristol tells the magazine. "It felt right, even though we don't have the approval of our parents."

That's right -- Sarah Palin doesn't approve. But the couple says they reconnected three months ago, while hashing out the custody details for their 18-month-old son, Tripp. Bristol and Levi were engaged once before, but called it off just weeks before she gave birth.

"I really thought we were over," Levi tells Us Weekly. "So when I went, I had no hope. I think we both just started talking -- and then we took Tripp for a walk."

Bristol finishes the tale: "When he left that night, we didn't hug or kiss, but I was thinking how different it was. He texted me: 'I miss you. I love you. I want to be with you again' ... I was in shock."

The lovers have often seemed permanently star-crossed -- even long into their separation, they habitually referenced each other on talk shows and in magazine profiles.

And though they've run circles around each other -- and been bound by a son together -- Palin and Johnston have faced adversity, both from outside and from each other. Bristol sought some of Levi's paycheck for his Playgirl photo spread; Levi told GQ Bristol's father Todd offered to buy her a new car if she dumped Levi.

Bristol said in January one of her lowest moments came after the big split from Levi: "I was just rocking Tripp to sleep because he had been screaming for so long. I was just like, 'What am I going to do? This is as bad as it gets,'" she told In Touch.

Now things are looking solid for the couple, though Bristol says it's "intimidating and scary" waiting for her mother's reaction. "Hopefully she will jump on board."

Keep a good divorce lawyer on retainer, Momma Grizzly.This boy has no moral fiber. Discuss nothing of importance in his presence. He sell it to the tabloids for money to buy a new pickup. I'm sad for young Bristol and her cub. At least they have good parents and grandparents.

If Bristol is able to take this mook back after all that has happened what does that say about her. Yes she is young. That is good for one mistake but at this point stupid is stupid. Thank God the baby has at least two good grandparents.

Let's see if I have this right. Levi Johnston got Bristol Palin pregnant, abandoned her three months later, and trashed the family in the tabloids, and she's rewarding him by marrying him. Great. This mentality is par for the course these days. Can't wait to see Mel Gibson pull something similar.

Actually, you got it wrong. They broke up shortly before the baby was born, and while he may have said some ill-considered things in the tabloids, it wasn't Bristol he was trashing. It was her meddling mother, who wasn't very kind in her remarks about him either. And for the record, why is it any of our business what they do? Do you have a personal stake in this? If the answer is no, then perhaps you should focus more on your own business, and less on the business of strangers.

You know I am wondering why this is news. She is not famous her mother is not her. So why do we care if she is getting married? Why should we care?! I don't understand why the magazine even cares. She is just the daughter of an ex-govenor who quit her post and was once a presidential candidate. She is the daughter NOT the mother. So drop the media attention of the daughter, seriously who cares. If anyone cares then they seriously need to get a life of their own and stop living through someone elses. And Yes, I am posting this because the media needs to be told that most americans don't care.

People care for the same reason that millions tuned in to see news on the Chelsea Clinton wedding. People care for the same reason they were glued to the television to see what Tiger Woods' newest "outed" mistress looked like, etc. People are addicted to the lives of the famous and their families. *shrug*

I agree with Lori. He was bashing Sarah, not Bristol. Besides, if they can work it out and be a family, then good for them. I hope they can just learn to love eachother and be good parents to their child. That is all that really matters.

This poor young girl has visions of a pretty little cottage and a white picket fence. Levi must have run out of money so now he figures the Palin family is just as good a meal ticket as any. She needs to take a good hard long at this young man, wake up my dear, this boy doesn't love you.

The only skill he has is taking off his clothes, and he doesn't do that very well. She's just an apple that fell off a trashy tree. They should both go to college, but they won't. There's no future in this marriage. I give them 2 years at the most.
