Canadian Officials Ban Pamela Anderson's PETA Ad

Pamela Anderson's curvy figure is grabbing headlines again, but this time, it's not her little red swimsuit that's making waves. The actress' latest campaign for PETA, in which she appears clad only in a bikini with her body parts labeled as cuts of meat, was banned in her homeland of Canada, with officials deeming the ad sexist.

The actress flew to Montreal to reveal the ad, which reads,"All Animals Have the Same Parts", only to find that she had been banned by city officials from hosting her planned pro-vegetarian event.

In a statement released to UsMagazine.com, Anderson wrote, "In a city that is known for its exotic dancing and for being progressive and edgy, how sad that woman could be banned from using her own body in a political protest over the suffering of cows and chickens. In some parts of the world, women are forced to cover their whole bodies with burqas -- is that next? I didn't think that Canada would be so puritanical."

A Montreal official responded to Anderson's criticism, saying, "It is not so much controversial, as it goes against all principles public organisations are fighting for in the everlasting battle between men and women."

Dan Matthews, senior vice president of PETA, said, "I think that city officials are confusing 'sexy' with 'sexist'."

Not all Canadians are morons. Just like not all American's are morons. I am Canadian, as well as a university educated young professional and I do not agree with clubbing baby seals. As a woman, I do not agree that this ad is sexist.

Thank you Hollywood celebrities for helping to make all of these tough decisions. PETA is a joke. Vegetarianism is reasonable. Veganism, on the other hand, is silly. Most people agree: dead animals taste good. Don't worry, Pam, when we run out of animals, we'll probably take your advice and just start eating vegetarians (except the ones with Hepatitis C).

Yeah, but they didn't. That's the point. Women's bodies are used to sell merchandise, girls are bombarded with these images of what they are 'supposed' to look like, and then they grow up and do dangerous things to their bodies, like silicone implants, as Anderson has done. Then who gets to pay for their healthcare and long-term disability when these treatments cause problems? We do, through our insurance and taxes. It's ridiculous and irresponsible.

I am not an animal. Animals were not created in the image of God - I was. God gave me rule over all animals, not the other way around. God gave all animals to me for food, not the other way around. If you choose to be vegetarian that is your choice to make. If you want to share the supposed benefits of vegetarianism go for it. If you want to tell me I'm wrong and I'm evil for eating meat and enjoying it you just might want to take it up with God.
