Canadian Officials Ban Pamela Anderson's PETA Ad

Pamela Anderson's curvy figure is grabbing headlines again, but this time, it's not her little red swimsuit that's making waves. The actress' latest campaign for PETA, in which she appears clad only in a bikini with her body parts labeled as cuts of meat, was banned in her homeland of Canada, with officials deeming the ad sexist.

The actress flew to Montreal to reveal the ad, which reads,"All Animals Have the Same Parts", only to find that she had been banned by city officials from hosting her planned pro-vegetarian event.

In a statement released to UsMagazine.com, Anderson wrote, "In a city that is known for its exotic dancing and for being progressive and edgy, how sad that woman could be banned from using her own body in a political protest over the suffering of cows and chickens. In some parts of the world, women are forced to cover their whole bodies with burqas -- is that next? I didn't think that Canada would be so puritanical."

A Montreal official responded to Anderson's criticism, saying, "It is not so much controversial, as it goes against all principles public organisations are fighting for in the everlasting battle between men and women."

Dan Matthews, senior vice president of PETA, said, "I think that city officials are confusing 'sexy' with 'sexist'."

This ad is clever and I applaud Pam's devotion to animal rights causes. What's the matter Canada, can't handle the truth?

I agree, Liz. Canada, as well as most bloggers in here, are taking this WAY too sreiously. I'll never give up eating meat, but have a lot of respect for those that can live without it, so why not let them and the tree-huggers do their thing? Yeah, maybe the ad is a little questionable for taste, but there's much worse out there, and if Pam can remain shapely eating only rabbit food, good for her!

They deemed this ad sexist. Oh, okay...I thought it may have had something to do with the beef lobby in Canada. But, I am so glad that it was just because they thought it was sexist! Pleeeaaaase!

Pamela looks good, and she's trying to show that we may be shaped different, but we all have the same parts. I've seen some really raunchy stuff on Canadian TV (parents were 1/2 Canadian) and they show more T and A then you'll see on any American TV show (for the full viewing public). So how they have a problem is beyond me

Been a member of PETA(People Eating Tasty Animals) for a long time now.

Its funny that Pam is so big on Peta. Yet I have seen her buying bacon in the grocery store out in Malibu.

Yes, I DEFINATELY care about animals, but...

I totally agree with Grey. If you were raised eating cat or dog meat you would think nothing of it, and so you wouldn't really protest against it. So why are we protesting against eating cows and chickens and pigs and other animals? They are all animals right? They are all the same in that sense.

And I do think the advertisement is a bit sexist. Seriously, why is everyone so perverted these days? Gosh!!!

But I do think it is ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY WRONG to skin any animal. That is what is cruel. You never should EVER skin an innocent animal. What the heck have animals ever done to us? I understand that the Indian tribes a long time ago may have done it to keep warm, but that was before winter coats made out of other things. So now people are really just skinning poor animals just for the freaking heck of it. Would you like to be skinned? Would you like to have your neck snapped? Would you like to be treated like a small, helpless, unimportant peice of CRAP? This is what people are doing to animals, and it makes me want to scream. I volunteer at my local zoo and they have animal skins there, but they only did that after the animal had died, in memory of it. But killing an animal for its fur if it still had the chance of living a longer and healthy life is pure wrong.

Well, in short, this ad is sexist, but I do kind of agree with the point that it is sending.

I am twelve, and I can reason this. How can people be saying this ad is sexist and leave it at that? It is sexist, but they shouldn't ban it. It has a point. Why should you kill animals for the heck of it? Really! People in Native American tribes only killed what they needed, not just because they just felt like it.

People these days have issues.

Oh, and I agree with ALL of you who say that pic is fake. Silicon. lol!

If Peta had any kinda of a clue they would realize that as long as their ads feature mostly-naked "veggie lovers", men are gonna keep eating meat, and wearing hides just to keep seeing new ads with more naked women! Does anyone really believe that a guy looking at Olivia Munn's ad even notices there are elephants in the picture? I doubt it!!
