Canadian Officials Ban Pamela Anderson's PETA Ad
Pamela Anderson's curvy figure is grabbing headlines again, but this time, it's not her little red swimsuit that's making waves. The actress' latest campaign for PETA, in which she appears clad only in a bikini with her body parts labeled as cuts of meat, was banned in her homeland of Canada, with officials deeming the ad sexist.
The actress flew to Montreal to reveal the ad, which reads,"All Animals Have the Same Parts", only to find that she had been banned by city officials from hosting her planned pro-vegetarian event.
In a statement released to
UsMagazine.com, Anderson wrote, "In a city that is known for its exotic dancing and for being progressive and edgy, how sad that woman could be banned from using her own body in a political protest over the suffering of cows and chickens. In some parts of the world, women are forced to cover their whole bodies with burqas -- is that next? I didn't think that Canada would be so puritanical."
A Montreal official responded to Anderson's criticism, saying, "It is not so much controversial, as it goes against all principles public organisations are fighting for in the everlasting battle between men and women."
Dan Matthews, senior vice president of PETA, said, "I think that city officials are confusing 'sexy' with 'sexist'."

I eat meat. I wear fur and suede. I support animals. Peta are extremist. I love how stupid Pam wore suede Uggs until someone told her they were hide.
As a member of PETA, People Eating Tasty Animals, and looking at that picture, I'll take rump and breast. I love ya Pam, but you are just to damn stupid.
The ribs look delicious, but remember to baste them while cooking them low and slow. Yum.

LOL I was thinking the same thing!
when animals quit eating each other i will quit eating them.

when was the last time you ate a carnivore? The animals you eat are vegetarians! idiot!
The ad IS sexist. Peta is just doing what all other sexist advertisers do--serving up a near-naked woman to get attention, and, thereby, contributing to the ongoing over-eroticizing of women in our culture. Burqa? That's just the flip side of Pam's Peta ad--both are unacceptable extremes of a woman's "place."

Near naked and no doubt air brushed. Just another cheap gimmick by Peta to get attention.
I dident realize woman nowdays had a "place" they had to be in?!
U R are both prudish and jealous and probably need some erotica added to your life!
They shouldn't have a "place". But they get pressured into one when teen-agers buy breasts and 8-year-olds are doing Beyonce moves at their annual dance recital because people like Pam, an over-the-top, silicone version of "erotic" don't wear clothes in ads. Again, the flip side of the burqa.
@Melinda - If the one posing has their clothes on & not spreading it out, it ain't "erotica". Pam's time is still up, & PETA is still an obnoxious organization. How about some hot naked GUYS in their ads for a change? Maybe then I'll give a hoot.
Anyone who has read Tommy Lee's book would despise her - she punched him in the face and then called the police, claiming "domestic abuse" and had him thrown in prison, then went out and started two timing him with other dudes. Now she's getting old and desperate. The bloom is DEFINITELY off that rose.

What do you expect from people that make a sex tape, put it on the internet, then claim it was "stolen?" Phonies, just like all people that support PETA and their extremist views.
I don't think it's sexist. If they did the same thing with a gorgeous male it would have a similar effect. The thing I find disturbing is the cannibalistic implications.

The cannibalistic intention was actually the point...it was meant to be disturbing. It was pointing out the similarities between humans and animals and that we are all meat. It was working on the principal that if we accept eating one kind of meat, why not another? I don't support peta and this ad is actually rather ineffective if you actually take the time to think on it. There are several meats eaten in different countries that I wouldn't eat (ie: cat, dog) and many in my country that I would. So, a link between eating human meat and animal has no effectiveness here. The correlation is invalid. If I was raised on human meat, I would think nothing of consuming it. I won't fight for cats and dogs not to be eaten in countries that do, and so the parallel is fairly meaningless to me. I am for fair and decent treatment of all animals, but I am not willing to protest nature. Nature dictates that animals, plants, etc are sustenance for all creatures on earth. As humans, we have the ability to choose our sustenance and carnivore is just as valid as omnivore and herbivore.
PETA aka Pet-Nazi's are really a bunch of idiots-- of course they don't care what we think though. Shame on you Pam for supporting these lunatics. The breast part however should be labeled "silicon"

Thanks for giving me the best laugh I've had all day. Now I've got the ordering dinner scene from "Restaurant at the End of the Universe" stuck in my head...
Silicone would definitely be a better designation.
