Mel Gibson's Ex Tired of Seeing Him Painted as 'Heartless, Abusive Monster'

Mel Gibson's family is backing him 100 percent in the wake of his audio rant fiasco, PEOPLE reports. Their source says Robyn Gibson, Mel's former wife of nearly 30 years, is particularly upset: "She still values her marriage to Mel and she is sick of the media portraying him as a heartless and abusive monster."

Though the two split in April 2009 following Gibson's involvement with now-baby-mama Oksana Grigorieva, Mel and Robyn reportedly speak regularly. The Gibsons have seven children together and they continue to raise them as a team, PEOPLE writes.

"Mel has a good support system in his friends and family," a friend of the couple tells PEOPLE, adding that Gibson's children are "absolutely" standing by him. "While they do think he needs help for his anger issues, Mel's family is supportive of him."

Robyn made a declaration to an LA judge last week to assist her ex in a custody battle with Oksana. "Mel never engaged in any physical abuse of any kind toward me before, during or after our marriage," Robyn wrote, according to TMZ's report. "Mel was a wonderful and loving father."

PEOPLE's source says, "Mel didn't ask Robyn for the affidavit. Robyn feels that Mel was and is an amazing dad and she is still very protective of him." The insider adds that Oksana "pushed Mel over the edge."

You're just cynical. I'm sure that with whatever Robyn said, you would find fault. Stop for a moment and think (if you are capable of thought)...Has Robyn ever shown herself to be exploitative, selfish, deceitful, etc? Be as negative as you want, but your negativity probably arose from envy and self-pity, rather than from any fault of Robyn Gibson.
But hey, cheer up....there is a world full of faultless people you can blame for the way you fel about yourself.

I agree with Joe, you are an idiot. Can't you figure out that it may be the truth? She already has the settlement from the divorce and as far as the kids from that marriage and anything that they might stand to inherit...where is it said that it is mandatory for them to do so? There certainly is no law on that. I do believe the EX is telling the truth and the tramp..well I think that she knew what buttons to push and has done so with Mel.

Are you sure that the voice on the phone is really Mel Gibson's voice. This is beginning to smell very fishy. Someone is making big bucks from this and this person's name is Oksana Grigorieva. She is getting alot of publicity from this. Think about it.

Mel put himself in this situation. Verbal and/or physical abuse is inexcusable. I think it's admirable that his ex is finally sticking up for him, but her statements don't change the fact that he abused a woman.
