Zsa Zsa Gabor Has Hip Replaced

Two days after shattering several bones following a nasty spill out of her bed, 93-year-old actress Zsa Zsa Gabor has a brand-new hip on Monday following successful surgery, her husband announced.

"This is the happiest day of my life," her husband Prince Frederic von Anhalt told reporters outside their home Monday afternoon.

Von Anhalt said the surgery lasted three hours and "went well" in spite of the risks involved. "It is a dangerous surgery at her age," he noted. He said Gabor received care from the same surgeon who repaired California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger broken femur in 2006.

Gabor was watching 'Jeopardy' at her home in Bel-Air, California on Saturday night when she fell when trying to answer a phone call. Gabor has been partially paralyzed since a 2002 car accident -- publicist John Blanchette describes her as "pretty much bedridden and wheelchair-bound for the last eight years."

The glitzy star, who had a stroke five years ago, was listed in serious condition at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center after the fall.

"She's fragile, but she's still very bright -- she still makes me laugh," Blanchette said of recent visits with Gabor. "Her faculties are intact, but her body's failing her."

I am shocked also that they opted to perform bone surgery on her given her age and usual condition of the bones of a woman her age.

My mother fell when she was 92. She had hip replacement surgery the next morning. Two days later she died. Zsa Zsa, I hope and pray you get a better result than my mother did. Jobbulast.

Always loved the Gabor sisters. Just had my brand new hip replced June 14 and I'm only 53. We're going to see a lot more hip operations in the news! Osteonecrosis and AVN are on the increase and more prevalent than ever in the news.

Get well soon Dahling!! I think ZsaZsa was definitely the ultimate glamour girl in her days! Too bad she is married to a "nut-job"!! But it seems he does care for her. So let's hope he does her good by her bedside, and takes her of the poor ZsaZsa. She deserves to be treated well in her old age. Thanks for all the great and glamorous movies ZsaZsa.
