Lindsay Lohan Surrenders to Begin Jail Sentence

Greeted by a burst of glitter and a mob of shouting cameraman, Lindsay Lohan surrendered to officials at the Beverly Hills Courthouse on Tuesday to begin serving her 90-day jail sentence. The 'Mean Girls' star arrived about 10 minutes late and was accompanied by attorney Shawn Chapman Holley and her mother, Dina Lohan. An onlooker added to the spectacle by throwing a glittery substance onto the actress, who arrived wearing blue jeans and a grey top.
Shortly after the hearing began, Judge Marsha Revel announced she was decreasing the 24-year-old's transition time between jail and her rehab stint from 48 to 24 hours. The actress looked poised and calm as Revel spoke.

Cameras in the courtroom were ordered shut off by the judge per an earlier agreement, meaning viewers were not able to witness the star's last moments of freedom. Lohan was then relieved of her SCRAM device, handcuffed and taken by car to the Lynwood Correctional Facility.
According to
TMZ, the actress remained stoic and did not cry during the un-televised portion of the hearing.

"She's scared as anyone would be," Lohan's attorney Shawn Chapman Holley told the press on Tuesday. "But she's resolute and she's doing it."
"She asks for your prayers and support" Holley said, adding Lohan "is accepting responsibility and [has] stepped up to the plate and is doing what has been asked of her."
Lohan was sentenced July 6 to 90 days in jail and a 90-day inpatient rehabilitation program for violating probation on an old DUI case. The actress will likely serve approximately 23 days behind bars because, according to Los Angeles Sheriff's Department spokesperson Steve Whitmore, female inmates in custody for nonviolent crimes generally serve about 25 percent of their sentence.
One thing is certain: Her stay will be considerably longer that the 84 minutes she spent at a suburban Los Angeles jail in 2006 for an unrelated conviction.
Lohan broke down in tears as Judge Marsha Revel revealed her decision on July 6. Two days later, Lohan's lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley announced she was leaving the star's legal team and was later replaced briefly by Robert Shapiro. He tendered his resignation on Monday and Holley took up the case again.
This string of legal woes for Lohan stems from a June 2007 arrest in which she was taken into custody for suspicion of drunk driving and cocaine possession. Just a month earlier, she was arrested on another DUI charge. Lohan spent a total of 84 minutes in jail after pleading guilty to two misdemeanor counts of being under the influence of cocaine and no contest to two counts of driving with a blood-alcohol level above 0.08 percent and one count of reckless driving.
She was rapped with three years of probation, but in October asked for a year-long extension because she had fallen behind on her court-ordered alcohol-education classes. She attended 10 of the 13 required classes and officials said her "attitude is positive and receptive to ideas regarding lifestyle changes."

About time, I wanted to see her cuffed. She should serve the full 90 days, if she killed someone, would they say the jail is over crowded to serve the full jail sentence? I don't think so. Enjoy Lindsay.

Where to even begin...
To answer your question, no; they probably wouldn't say jail is too over crowded for her to serve full sentence. What's your point?

Funny, thanks for the laugh.
Why do the insist on calling her 'A Star'

Why does this stupid mess of a person get her own jail cell? She should have to sit in jail with the other people like everyone else. That immature, no disciplined drug addict who does not care for anything but herself and her new fake lips, etc. should be required to spend her entire sentence in jail. She is a danger on the roads and will continue to be because she refuses to have any discipline.

thank God!! she is Finally going to Jail, Where She Belongs. Now, she has to face The hard Time in Jail, And Not out on the Street. She's no longer a " A -list" Star.

Her Dad creeps me out! She does not want him around, yet he shows up like a fly on the wall.
This is a good thing, and I'm happy she'll get the attention she should have gotten years ago. You'll be fine. Robert Downey did it, you can to.

Do you honestly think Downey is "cured"? Once an addict, always an addict. I will never see a movie he is in, as well as LiLo and bigot Mel Gibson. If I did any of the things they have done, I'd get more than a slap on the wrist. The laws are meade for everyone, and the rich and famous MUST abide them as well. Throw the book at all of them.
Due to her very high profile she will be kept in the psyc ward of the County Jail and will never see a jail cell. She'll have Dep. Sheriff's keeping care and eye on her 24 seven just like they did for Hilton....The LA County Sheriff really babies these doper rich kids.................

Too bad they don't put in her cell with her that bum shapiro who defended that creep o.j. and help get him off from murder. Hey, why not put all 3 in the same cell?

I hope this does more for Lindsay than it did for Paris. Prayers go to her in the hopes she will turn out 'Downey' rather than 'Ledger.'

Never wish to see the young actress Lindsay in jail.
Or a victim of cocaine. Wish to see her a thriving star who is
kind enough to help the starving children around the world.

Mean Girls was in 2004...it's been 6 years since then, I don't think you can call her a star anymore!

She's a sick and suffering person. Decent people will keep her in their prayers.

I am not a person that gets off seeing people suffer and do jail time. As we know, jal time isn't going to change Ms. Lohan..only God can do that. Sadly, she lives in a fantasy world that at the mere mention of the word Jesus, all types of negative responses are evoked. Jail, Hollywood, well wishes and sympathies won't save Ms. Lohan. Only Jesus can.
Poor girl, wannbe lesbian, alcohol and drug addicted, and more confsued than an schizophrenic, was set up to fail because she is a "movie star". Ha! Perhaps if she did some real work like a real woman, then she would really be looked up to.
