Kidz Bop 18 Covers the Hits from Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Justin Bieber

Love pop music but fear the damaging effects it has on our vulnerable, innocent youth? Find yourself feigning a sneeze every time a suggestive lyric explodes out of a speaker? Well, Kidz Bop has been delivering the sonic equivalent of a loving parent cupping a child's ears for a full nine years now -- taking the hits, stripping out the the trash and delivering sanitized versions of "hits sung by kids for kids."

Now in its 18th iteration, the newest Kidz Bop compilation boasts hits from all the usual suspects -- Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Justin Bieber and Adam Lambert -- but with a few key lyrical changes.

In Gaga's 'Telephone,' "eating that grub" stands in for "sippin that bub," while Katy Perry's 'California Gurls' drops the "gin" and leaves just the "juice." For concerned citizens, the presumed double-entendre "so hot we'll melt your popsicle" was not affected, however.

Despite being intended for children, some question whether the songs that Kidz Bop remakes are indeed suitable for children. Kidz Bop renditions are edited to varying degrees, especially for explicit language, drug references, and suggestive themes, while some references to violence can still be found.

The CDs keep selling though. Nine of the first 10 CDs were gold-certified, meaning they sold over 500,000 copies, and the albums are advertised on the Disney Channel, Cartoon Network and other kid-friendly TV channels.

There has been controversy regarding the album's deluxe edition, which featured the bonus track 'Not Myself Tonight' originally by Christina Aguilera. The songs original lyrics reference alcohol, explicit words, sex, and contains 2 instances of the phrase "F**k you".

A look at Original Vs. Kidz Bop Lyrics:

Lady Gaga's 'Telephone': "Eating that grub" stands in for "sippin that bub."

Black Eyed Peas' 'Boom Boom Pow': "Next level sh*t" is replaced with "next level hit."

Lady Gaga's 'Alejandro': "I'm not your babe" is replaced with "I'm not your girl."

Katy Perry's 'California Gurls': "Gin" has been changed to "Juice."

Christina Aguilera's 'Not Myself Tonight': Replaces "F**k you" with "Boo hoo."
"I'm taking shots" has been replaced by "I'm on the spot."

Ke$ha's 'Tik Tok': Replaces the reference to Jack Daniels with the line "...brush my teeth and then I go and pack." It also replaces "tipsy" with "silly" and "I'mma fight" with "I'm alright."

Kevin Rudolf's 'Let it Rock': "Stuck his middle finger" has been replaced with "raised his hand and waved it."

I think it is sad that every song that you hear is about humping and pumping and who knows what. The last thing would be to let the kids watch porn, then it's not love they sing about it is nasty. I don't like it, but the only thing to do is not to listen to the radio, because they all play those songs.

I think the whole Kidz Bop production just needs to an hero. It ruins any decent song anyways.

I'm 14. I have moderate grammar. I hate these shallow, useless, celebrities. Why can't they stand for something that matters? It isn't like they don't have enough fame to do this generation some GOOD! I personally listen to Gorillaz. They have a variety of messages. They tell you how thse other celebrities are useless sh*ts. They tell you what music is (EXPRESSION OF ACTUAL THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS). They tell you about these stupid problems we have because of this world ruled by hollow, useless, piles of flesh.

I feel if they have to change the lyrics to make it kid-friendly, it probably shouldn't be on a Kidz Bop album anyway. There are much more positive and meaningful songs then what they put on these albums that wouldn't have to be censored at all.

I hate your shallow music. I am 14 and I am ashamed of you. All of you. Even myself. There's no real music left... Except Gorillaz, System of A Down, and groups or people a bit under the radar...

Music is suppose to be an expression of oneself stop judging, parent the way you feel is correct, and please STFU! Music is art and if you can't appreciate that you don't understand music.

Okay listen up. Kidz bob was made for KIDS! They do so much sencoring that they cant even say the word babe. I mean think about it, If your child walked up to you and said you look good babe, what would you as a parent think? In my opinion i would think my child heard it from somewhere not from a kidz bop cd. And by the way dont you think kidz bop is doing there best in this generation almost all music kids like is bad or has a bad meaning kidz bop takes those song and put it in the same beat and same song just without the ADULT CONTENT. so what is the problem give them a break.

Shut up about how people spell! Seriously the only reason that people actually spell you, "u" is because it's easier to type and people still understand it. It's not like children are writing this on term papers! God just stop "being worried for this generation". It's ridiculous sure most of the music is crap. Sure we don't always spell correctly. But it's not because we are dumb, it's a tech-saavy world people! Everyone needs to find a way to be faster do things easier and with less effort. And with all the advances we can just write in simple text to our friends. We don't write like this on a resume/transcript. You see what the media tells you, the world is a lot different outside of your cubicle. Also when peopl hit middle school pretty much you are an official sailor you should here 11 year-old's mouths. Hahaha.

I didn't check over my grammar/ punctuation/spelling, and I only made 3 mistakes, that's pretty good considering my keyboard is broken:)...and I know the difference between "you're" and "your". Also I was just explaining why people write in short (you to u) is because we have to do everything quicker and with less effort. Sorry, that's all I was trying to get across. It doesn't mean people think that's how to spell.

ok im sure what kids are thinking is that were fine! but im just a bit older. I dont think kidz bop is good at all. but i dont think that a five year old should be listening to things like alejandro. Its just not right. Just think a kid is singing, "dont wanna kiss, dont wanna touch, just hold my cigarette and hush". there is a point where the kid is viable to listen to these songs, but keep in mind you dont have to let them listen to kidz bop when young, just keep them away from the inappropiate music, and choose better options like Lady Antebellum as opposed to 3OH!3.
