What Life Is Like for Lindsay Lohan Behind Bars

Lindsay Lohan surrendered herself to authorities on Tuesday to begin serving her 90-day jail sentence. But what will life behind bars be like for the 'Mean Girls' actress?
Her cell at the women's correctional facility in Lynwood, California, is 12-by-8 feet, and she will be separated from the other 1,800 prisoners, according to the Associated Press. Lohan joins a list of famous females who've been housed in the same jail, including Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Khloe Kardashian and 'Lost' alum Michelle Rodriguez.
In a twist of fate, Alexis Neiers, star of E!'s 'Pretty Wild,' is in the cell next to Lohan's. Neiers is currently incarcerated for her part in a string of robberies that hit celebrity homes -- including Lohan's,
USA Today reports.
Yahoo says Lindsay occupies cell 28, with Neiers in 29.
Although Neiers is behind bars specifically for burglarizing Orlando Bloom, a watch stolen from Lindsay was found at the Neiers' home.
Meanwhile, Lohan's first visitor was her attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley. "Understandably, Lindsay's having a difficult time adjusting as it would be for anyone. She's trying to make the necessary adjustments to an extremely stressful and difficult situation. There were some tears," the lawyer told
PEOPLE.
For other visitors, there are a few issues: "It's a four-hour wait for visitors, which is totally crazy. Dina and Lindsay's other visitors will have to wait on line with everyone else," a source close to the actress tells PopEater.
The source also adds, "Her father will not be allowed to visit her. She wants no part of him."
She does have some support while inside. When Lohan arrived at the facility, the inmates cheered for her.
"Lindsay was crying when she came in. She was handcuffed but seemed calm. We all started saying 'God bless you Lindsay' and saying 'Hi' to her and then she smiled at us," prisoner Tiffany Hawes, who was being released at the same time, explained to Britain's
Daily Mail.
TMZ has the details on her daily routine while she's locked away. She'll be allowed to exercise three times a week, shower every other day, and will be served two cold meals and one hot meal every day.
What will she do with the 20-hours a day she'll spend alone? "Lindsay is going to spend her time in jail writing new songs that she will record the second she gets out. Her emotions are so raw at the moment the material will be her best ever. It will definitely get nominated for a Grammy," PopEater's source says.
If she behaves herself and the jail remains overcrowded, Lohan will only have to spend 12-13 days behind bars for violating her probation from previous drug and alcohol arrests, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said on Tuesday. It's a big break for Lohan, who was given 90 days by a judge and was initially expected to serve about 23 days of that sentence.
Steve Whitmore told reporters that nonviolent female inmates generally serve about 25 percent of their sentence, principally because of overcrowding in the jail system. He indicated to
PEOPLE that Lohan would likely be released from Century Regional Detention Facility either August 1 or 2.
At Tuesday's hearing, Beverly Hills Judge Marsha Revel ordered that Lohan must not be released to house arrest or electronic monitoring and also slashed the 24-year-old's transition time between jail and her 90-day rehab stint from 48 to 24 hours.
Lohan was sentenced July 6 to 90 days in jail and a 90-day inpatient rehabilitation program for violating probation on an old DUI and drug case.

With all that's going on in the world to be concerned about, I just don't give a damn about a spoiled brat, who has had more chances in the world, going to jail. Obviously the child needs help. Let her go to jail and hopefully wake up and live a productive live that will benefit society. In jail she's just like everybody else. GOOD! Maybe it will help turn her life around. Believe me, if it were you or me we'd have been in jail long ago - without al the chances. With oil spills, world hunger, gangs, crime, economic crisis, unemployment etc., etc., we need to figure out how to save OURSELVES and let the "poor" rich folks take their lumps like we do. Trust me, Lindsay and her ilk don't give a DAMN about what happens to us and in good times she wouldn't give us the time of day. THINK, people and let's put our time and energy to good use. That her story is TOP NEWS should be enough to scare everybody!

I hope being in jail will help Lohan not kill herself with drugs or whatever she's into. Her life is obviously a mess. If she can't learn a lesson from this then keep her there and toss the key so she doesn't end up killing some innocent people when screws up again. giving celebs special treatment or not having them serve the same sentences as regular people is not doing these overpaid trainwrecks any favors, it just screws 'em up more.

This girl needs to serve the entire 90 day sentence, and be with the rest of the jail population , like any other person. The Hollywood spoiled brats get treated with kids gloves while the rest of us are treated with boxing gloves.I hope her stay makes her miserable, so she can get a taste of reality!

this is BS! 2 weeks for a 90 day sentence. poor baby. and as for CTG, I did "try it for a couple of months " as you so smartly stated, and believe me my jail cell was nothing like hers! and after 2 months in jail, ALL my charges were dropped due to a crocked cop so don't I don't want to hear about "poor Lindsay"

Is that fair get sentenced to 90 days and serve 12-14 days? That not even 25% of her time. Then get a cell that big and not even be with a roomate no wonder they over crowded have them share a cell like the rest of the prisoners do . Then they can serve their whole sentence and not be overcrowded. I wonder if the judge thinks it a slap in his face only serving 12-14 days when he sentenced 90 days?

I spent a few days in a place like that. It's called a Motel 6.

I think think the perfect punishmint would be to throw her mom and dad in the same cell with her for a year.lol

That's no jail cell. I've been in jail and even spent a few months in a federal prison(Leavenworth). That place looks like a suite at the Hilton in the Phillipines.

Ferhevvinsake! One more pampered, overhyped 'starlet' who threw it away - I have empathy only because her parasitic, enabling mother keeps throwing banana peels under her to slip on.

Lindsay Lohan is NOT news worthy ! Her acting career is officially finished. Lets move on to some positive news -- and there is lots more of it than follin` with this this correctional inmate Lindsay Lohan.

She will be out before her roots turn dark or needs a manicure. That is unless she tries to scratch "LiLo was here" in the concrete. Seriously, people, you have to admit you have a alcohol-drug problem before ReHab can work. Lets hope jail works so we don't have to see anymore jailhouse mugshots on the news.

Im shocked! This was news? I mean 90 days would not be easy for anyone. But all this press and we are actually talking about 12 days?!!! AND she really need not be concerned for her safety they will make sure of it. I am sure this troubled young woman has spent far more days laying around wasted, stoned, hung over just plain out of it. I was actually hoping this would be her rock bottom and she would get help before she is added to the list. Heath, Michael, Brittney, River, lets not forget Elvis and Marilyn. Since there were stars people turned a blind eye to thier behavior. Sure those yes men made a living off them for a while. But not for long. Wake up Lindsey. Before you dont. You have a lot of talent ..I really think you do. Get it together. We're not ragging on you...we're pulling for you!!!

I really think 12-13 days isn't enough. Lindsay's earned this punishment and it should be served. heaven knows she's young enough to have alot more time to serve in jail.

That jail cell doesn't look all that bad. She's in her own cell, has 3 meals brought to her and has all the time in the world to read or do whatever she wants. Crap, it's like a mini vacation! She'll probably be out of there in the next week or so. Do they still delouse people on their way in?
