Valerie Bertinelli to Have a Really Tiny Wedding

Valerie Bertinelli revealed back in May that she was letting her long-time boyfriend Tom Vitale plan their fall wedding. Every man's dream, right? You'd expect a glitz-y wedding with rock stars (her ex is Eddie Van Halen) and big Hollywood types, but instead Vitale and his bride-to-be have decided to keep things small. REALLY small.

"For me, it feels silly. I'm 50. It's not about the wedding. I just want to have a marriage," Bertinelli told PEOPLE last week. "We're going to get married in Italy, just the two of us and a witness."

The 'One Day at a Time' actress may have found her dress, but don't expect it to be white. "I'll be wearing black!" she joked.

Bertinelli and Vitale, a private equity fund manager, began dating around six years ago and got engaged in March when he proposed after a romantic night out in Florence.

"I can't imagine my life -- for the rest of my life, till the day I die -- without him," she told AARP Magazine in announcing the engagement.

Bertinelli has marveled at finding her soul mate later in life.

"Marriage at this age is so much different than when I was first married at 20. I feel incredibly lucky because here I am (at) 50 and I feel like I really am in the prime of my life."

Valerie and Van Halen have reconnected since their bitter divorce following 25 years of marriage, and she now considers him a good friend and actually sat in the front row for his 2009 wedding. The have a son, Wolfgang.

I read her article at my Doctor's office and I must say that they both found "the one". I think it's good that it can happen at any age. It may be something for others to remember in a relationship that does not make them happy. You never know what's around the corner.

I got married for the first time at 53.....my wife is the love of my life. Interesting where life takes us.

We had a small wedding of 50 very special guests. It was our goal that our guests have a wonderful time. Small, intimate and fun. Everyone had a smile on their face.

One of the most elegant, beautiful weddings we ever attended was for 50 guests. All sat at one long banquet table with the bride and groom at center, with different sized candelabras the length of the table in a gorgeous 18th century room in NYC. Big isn't always better. This was really memorable!

I met the love of my life at 45. He was 62. We married quickly and had almost 7 wonderful years together before he was called to Heaven. Those were the absolute best years of my life! It is great finding true love at a later age. I am now in a happy relationship again finding that older love is more settled and has none of the drama of a younger love!

Valerie has a rough plastic surgery job in the photo with her fiance..her cute looks are gone. Now she looks like every other 50 something in Hollywood. Gross.

My first & only wedding was at 51. Granted, we had an off & on long distance romance for 17 years before that. Safe to say we took not rushing into things to a ridiculous extreme. Our small wedding was sneaked into a Halloween costume party. It was a surprise to all the attendees except the hosts and wedding party. We were dressed for a wedding, but blended in since everyone was dressed up as something other than themselves. At that age, why not just have fun with it?
