Bob Barker Takes a Dig at Drew Carey
By PopEater Staff Posted Jul 27th 2010 11:01AM
'Price Is Right' icon Bob Barker passed the baton skinny mic over to Drew Carey about three years ago, and at the time the transition of power went smoothly. So, what does he think of his replacement these days? "[Drew] does his show differently than I did," Barker confided to a total stranger (ie. a friendly TMZ cameraman) on Monday. "I tried to make the show really exciting and he doesn't do that -- he just plays the games."

The 86-year-old host and long-time animal rights activist taped his last regular episode -- his 6,586th -- of the popular CBS game show in June 2007, retiring after five decades on national television.
Carey's first episode aired that October; the 'Drew Carey Show' vet has kept some of Barker's traditions, including the tagline to "have your pet spayed or neutered."
But it would appear Carey's chill persona and vocal delivery aren't sitting well with Barker, who had a knack for attracting (and harnessing the energy of) wildly enthusiastic contestants during his 35-year run.

If I remember right, didn't Bob always run away from the contestants that wanted to hug him or get a little physical because of their excitement? You don't see Drew doing that, he will jump up and down right along with them. Also, the show is Drew's now, not Bob's.

I blame Obama. Well, everything else seems to be his fault.

Drew has always been more interested in promoting himself than the show he's on. His "dancing shtick" got old many years ago.

Bob is right! Drew is about as exciting as watching paint dry! I haven't watched the show since he took over. They had many to choose from that would have been much better than the human coat rack they have now!

How tacky of Bob Barker to say that.

Gary, you could not be more right! I LOVE Tom B.

Bob Barker knew his grammar, and Drew Carey and the announcer constantly use incorrect grammar, which demeans the show. Bob Barker may not have been a perfect human being, but he was a perfect host of The Price is Right.

The difference between Bob Barker and Drew Carey is summed up in a single word... EMPATHY!!! You can feel how excited DREW is for his contestants. The contestants are just as excited to meet Drew as they were to meet Bob, but Drew seems just as excited as the contestants are. Bob Barker NEVER showed that kind of empathy towards his fans... EVER!!!!

Bob Barker is over with. He quit or retired by his on choice. Drew carey is doing ok. If barker wants to run the show he should have stayed there. I suggest he get back on his meds and go take a nap, and butt out.

I have watched The Price is Right for years (at least, when I had a day off) and even though I liked Bob Barker, I never really thought of him as a "real" person. He didn't seem like he really would talk to the "regular" people much. Drew Carey is a little more personable, but I don't think he's really happy doing a game show. I think he cares about the contestants a little more, but what bothers me the most is the idiots that won't stop jumping up and down and the ones who look for an answer from the audience for a game that they can't really help with. Like where to place the stupid Plinko chip or which box to pick. Prices, maybe, but not the random games. Yep, I've been unemployed for seven months and I am getting way too involved in game shows!

Well I do agree thta Bob did make the show more fun to watch. I have checked the Price Is Right out lately and dsid that a few times, but I just can't stay with it. Drew is pretty boring ya know.

I miss Bob Barker, but think Drew is ok. There is something missing in the way he does the show though. I too think Tom Bergeron would be good. I think he's fresh and would add personality to the show. One more thing I know someone who was on the show when Bob was running it. She said he was most gracious and kind when she made it up on the stage and afterwards. I think Bob's obervation is straight on. Need someone who has a personality.

I love Drew, but this was not a good match....haven't watched the show hardly at all since.

I always thought Drew mumbled and talked unclear..too fast. Really miss Bob.

Who really gives a s*it...It's just another stupid TV game show - get a life!!!

I admit it took me a while to get use to Drew. I still can't believe he got the job because of his unconventional game show host look, however he does ok.

William Shatner should have done the show

I am a long time fan of TPIR hardly ever miss an episode. Bob was very good but at the end was scared to death someone was going to injure him. Drew is doing a good job and the way some of them attack him it's amazing he doesn't wear a suit of armor. Everybody has their own way of doing a program.

Guess what, Bob : Young guys do all jobs differently than the old guys they replace, in all walks of life. No, he doesn`t have the same style that you started 40 years ago, but neither does a mechanic, fireman, store worker, etc. Get over it.

I think Barker should challenge Carey to a game of golf, then kick his azz like he did Sandlers.
