'Entourage' Actor Maury Chaykin Dies at Age 61

Canadian actor Maury Chaykin died early Tuesday morning--the day of his birthday, the
Associated Press reports. His manager, Paul Hemrend, said the longtime character actor died at a Toronto hospital with family surrounding him.
Mark McKinney, a producer on Chyakin's most recent HBO Canada series, said the actor died following kidney problems.
"He was one of our greatest actors," said McKinney. "Maury's an actor of unparalleled gifts, you cannot learn what he had in spades - you could study for 1,000 years. He had an incredible gift, an instant quickness."
Quite possibly Chaykin's most notable role was his
over-the-top Harvey Weinstein parody on HBO's 'Entourage.' He also had memorable roles in many films including 'Dances With Wolves,' 'A Life Less Ordinary,' 'Mystery, Alaska,' 'My Cousin Vinny' and 'The Mask of Zorro.'
In 1994, the actor won a Genie, the Canadian equivalent to an Oscar, for his role in the Canadian film 'Whale Music. He also won two Geminis, Canadian equivalents to Emmys, for guest spots on Canadian TV Series 'La Femme Nikita' and 'At the Hotel' in 1998 and 2006, respectively.
Chaykin is survived by his wife, actress Susanna, and daughter, Rose.

Maury was my second cousin and he made our family proud. Our families were from Brooklyn and the Bronx. He was a wonderful actor with a great range in the kraft he loved. He will be greatly missed! L. Chaykin
i see they still dont have dixie carter(RIP may 10 2010) in the recently departed photo gallery. popeater, you still suck.
Maury was so sweet in Mystery Alaska, enjoyed him Cousin Vinny too but a much smaller part. Interestingly, I never thought he was acting - his roles seem to reflect him with his true personality - I think that's one of the reasons he was so loved as an actor.

For L Chaykin; God bless you and your family, and of course, maury. He was a wonderful actor whose parts in movies and tv were so vast that it's impossible to name everything. I remember him from "Twins", with Arnold Schwarzeneggar and Danny DeVito. May he rest in peace.

Correction: He WAS Nero Wolfe! Wonderful actor, so sorry to hear of his death.
A true loss - he was the quintessential Nero Wolfe. I have the entire series and my family enjoys putting them on Sunday evening. The writing was great and he truly brought the character to life. Blessings to his family.

How very sad. I have always enjoyed Maury's work and will miss seeing him in future things. Fortunately, we will all still have previous work to look back on and enjoy.
