Jon Bon Jovi, Rock 'n' Roll's Premiere Family Man

Before he was rock 'n' roll's poster boy for family values, Jon Bon Jovi was just another grinning heartthrob up to his hairy chest in groupies. Well, that's according to newly uncovered photos of the rocker showing him splayed out on a bed with a quartet of half-naked beauties wiggling around him.
The photos (
censored version here) were snapped by photographer Ross Marino in 1985, a year before the rocker's band Bon Jovi released their breakout album 'Slippery When Wet.' Admittedly, it was staged as part of a possible effort to toughen the band's image following two lackluster albums and rising competition from more scandalous groups like Motley Crue.
But the photos didn't surface until now, with the release of 'Sex, Drugs and Bon Jovi,' a tell-all book by the band's former manager, Rich Bozzett. Why? At the time the singer was in a relationship with his high school sweetheart, Dorothea Hurley, who became his wife four years later. Bon Jovi's sex appeal was in his big hair, smoldering looks and tight clothing. He didn't need to show off with naked chicks.
So for years he urged Bozzett to destroy the pictures, fearing they would embarrass the love of his life and conflict with his unique image in the world of rock 'n' roll as a seemingly wholesome family man.

The Bon Jovi love story began in the late 1970s at Sayreville (N.J.) War Memorial High when he fell for his classmate Dorothea Hurley. He even copied her test answers in history class.
After high school he delved into the business of rock music, making demos, working at a record studio and forming what would become Bon Jovi. It was in those early years of the band that he and Hurley split up and the rocker even briefly dated actress Diane Lane.
"I've not been a saint. I've had my lapses," Bon Jovi, now 48, has said of that time period.
Just how he won Dorothea back plays out like a Bon Jovi song (or a scene straight out of John Cusack's 'Say Anything'). According to a 2007 profile piece in Parade magazine, Bon Jovi went to her parents' house in New Jersey, stood on the front lawn and called out to her that he needed to see her. His band was getting a gold record at a show at the Meadowlands arena that night, and there was no one he wanted there more.
They tied the knot in 1989 at the Graceland Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas and have never looked back. Together they have four children, Stephanie Rose, Jesse James, Jacob and Romeo.
Bon Jovi rarely talks about his life at home, but when he does it always reads like a love letter to his wife of 21 years.
"I think people see the cliché of the Rock Star," he told Parade a few years back. "We're supposed to get married every three years, trade in, trade out -- I don't even want to dare say trade up!"
"I made a good deal the first time," he adds. "If Angelina Jolie came in today, I wouldn't trade."
In other interviews he has admitted to being "cognizant of the fact that relationships have been breaking up around us, but it hasn't made me cling to her or the other way round. And although everyone says we're about the only couple still together in the rock business, it's not really true," citing Bono and his wife Ali and Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa.

I like John Bon Jovi and I do believe he and his wife work at staying together forever. People always think there is someone else 'out there' maybe, but there isn't. Look at Mel Gibson, his wife was wonderful and stayed by his side raising their kids for 30 something years, but (one of many of his reasons/problems) he starts messing around with this Russia chick, now he wishes he still had his wife back and family back. Bon Jovi, stay with your wife forever, nothing/no-one out there is better. Raise your children to carry your values for a family and responsibilities.

You got to be kidding me. I once met a lady in S. Ca. and her husband is a drummer for a band, she told me her husband said he knows Bon Jovi and he messes around with the ladies when he is on the road with the band. They do a lot of cheating ... I wonder if Bon Jovi would like it if his wife was messing around while he was away?

Girl, give me more info than this!!! Where EXACTLY does a woman have to be so Jon and Richie will take them to bed. Tellin ya right now. I would pitch a tent and sleep on the street for a week if I could have a tossle w/Richie or Jon..
I have to disagree about his being arrogant. Several years ago he came into a downtown restaurant where I worked, and was waiting in line with all the tons of other people. He wanted no special attention, and was the most down to earth and nicest person I've ever met.

BS! I was signed to the same label as Bon Jovi and he cheated on his wife all the time. It was no big secret. I hate his music. I was never a fan.

I guess, to his family, he will always be their "Superman Tonight"!

Bon Jovi rocked at HullabaLou....I swooned, swooned again...and swooned somemore.....I was born to be their (any of their) baby!!!

Bon Jovi was terrible, just another example of of the crap that was the 80's.......I'll take KISS, Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, AC/DC anything....but Bon Jovi was for pre-teen girls who didn't put out and went to the concert with their baby sitter.
I don't know who was worse Bon Jovi or Poison?

Keep on doing what you have in the past! It works and Bon Jovi's music is second to none. The guy and his band has pure talent and show stopping personality. Went to see his show in Philly and could not have asked for more. ABOSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!
Hey, I am 63 years old and love the guy, his music and his love story!!!!

ok I agree with the people Bruce Springstien ( spelling) is no example I remember the story of him cheating with his current wife many years back... also John said he has had lapses well IF and I dont know that meant he has cheated in his marriage then its not a successful one, because them staying together through that could mean a lot of things other then love,.. like money, image ,kids or whatever.... cheating is failure in a marriage even if you stay together. so ,if thats what he meant by lapses, not a good example of a relationship to me.

sorry sunday he did say that only to make light of the fact he hurt his leg in the 4th sold out show at the Maedowlands, he said that only after he uttered he was getting old, still a great band, sells millions of albums sells out everywhere they play.not bad for a band that shouldn't a made it out of the 80's. one thing you cant overlook is they can play thier insturments. unlike todays musicians who dont know or cant play a guitar solo. or use machine to make the music for them. thats Talent. Rock On BON JOVI!

Cheating is a man's right...after being brow beaten and hookwinked into a relationship where she gets half of what she did not earn should you split....and you can not have sex with anyone but her....it is total rubbish.
The idea of marriage, the whole stupid concept was obviously thought up by a greedy self centered woman.
