Jon Bon Jovi, Rock 'n' Roll's Premiere Family Man

Before he was rock 'n' roll's poster boy for family values, Jon Bon Jovi was just another grinning heartthrob up to his hairy chest in groupies. Well, that's according to newly uncovered photos of the rocker showing him splayed out on a bed with a quartet of half-naked beauties wiggling around him.
The photos (
censored version here) were snapped by photographer Ross Marino in 1985, a year before the rocker's band Bon Jovi released their breakout album 'Slippery When Wet.' Admittedly, it was staged as part of a possible effort to toughen the band's image following two lackluster albums and rising competition from more scandalous groups like Motley Crue.
But the photos didn't surface until now, with the release of 'Sex, Drugs and Bon Jovi,' a tell-all book by the band's former manager, Rich Bozzett. Why? At the time the singer was in a relationship with his high school sweetheart, Dorothea Hurley, who became his wife four years later. Bon Jovi's sex appeal was in his big hair, smoldering looks and tight clothing. He didn't need to show off with naked chicks.
So for years he urged Bozzett to destroy the pictures, fearing they would embarrass the love of his life and conflict with his unique image in the world of rock 'n' roll as a seemingly wholesome family man.

The Bon Jovi love story began in the late 1970s at Sayreville (N.J.) War Memorial High when he fell for his classmate Dorothea Hurley. He even copied her test answers in history class.
After high school he delved into the business of rock music, making demos, working at a record studio and forming what would become Bon Jovi. It was in those early years of the band that he and Hurley split up and the rocker even briefly dated actress Diane Lane.
"I've not been a saint. I've had my lapses," Bon Jovi, now 48, has said of that time period.
Just how he won Dorothea back plays out like a Bon Jovi song (or a scene straight out of John Cusack's 'Say Anything'). According to a 2007 profile piece in Parade magazine, Bon Jovi went to her parents' house in New Jersey, stood on the front lawn and called out to her that he needed to see her. His band was getting a gold record at a show at the Meadowlands arena that night, and there was no one he wanted there more.
They tied the knot in 1989 at the Graceland Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas and have never looked back. Together they have four children, Stephanie Rose, Jesse James, Jacob and Romeo.
Bon Jovi rarely talks about his life at home, but when he does it always reads like a love letter to his wife of 21 years.
"I think people see the cliché of the Rock Star," he told Parade a few years back. "We're supposed to get married every three years, trade in, trade out -- I don't even want to dare say trade up!"
"I made a good deal the first time," he adds. "If Angelina Jolie came in today, I wouldn't trade."
In other interviews he has admitted to being "cognizant of the fact that relationships have been breaking up around us, but it hasn't made me cling to her or the other way round. And although everyone says we're about the only couple still together in the rock business, it's not really true," citing Bono and his wife Ali and Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa.

Wow....
Bitter much????
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion whether it be good, bad or indifferent to you. He's only Bon Jovi. He is human like all of us. Came into the world kicking and screaming and will leave the same way. Health and happiness to him and his family.

His name has always ben Jon Bon Phoney, because he has always been lame and it shows. Even the picture with the four naked chicks looks staged and fake. You have to give him credit for all the years of pulling in huge amounts of fans with his cheesie glam pop music, don't even call it metal.

Is this really news, honestly? There are so many more important things going on in this world.

eh well it does happen...i look back in despair...i found a lady who filled my heart with whati thought was the kind of love i would want for a lifetime, but my dad intervened and convinced me to stay away from her...i wish i never would have listenedto him...i always get haunted when i read these types of stories...i am old now..and i do not even care much to date and i have never been able to find those deep feelings of infatuation and love to call my own...i have dated and had lovers, but most of it was boring...

Jon Bon Jovi left his wife after he became famous for someone else.
It was years later when he went back with her.
I didn't see that mentioned.

There are quite a few Rock star couples still together and have been for yrs. Alice Cooper, Ozzie Osbourne, Dee Snider, Bono, Keith Richards, and many more. I think you realize that you have to have more then a on stage life, it is a job that in the end is what pays the bills. I also never was a Bon Jovi fan.

For us true BJ fans...don't let the little twerps here bother you. They have no idea what music is anyways. I took my wife to Hawaii for her dream vacation back in the late 80's and met Jon at our hotel bar. Great, down to earth, type of guy. We became friends and he invited us to his concert the following night. After the show we all ended up back at the bar and had a blast partying with the rest of the band. Best frickin' vacation we ever had!

I love Bon Jovi. He's a family man and he has my respect. With his looks he can have any woman he wants yet he rather stay true to his wife and children that for me is truly a real man. God Bless you Bon Jovi & your lovely family. oxox

Bon Jovi is a smart guy. He has show it to us by staying married to someone he truly loves. He could have had anyone and still can but why ruin what he has (loving wife, great kids, a nice home, and money in the bank). Think about all the rock stars who jump ship just because another cute boat pulls us. They end up alone in the end with no money or a family that loves them.

I thought he was married to Valerie Bertinelli and they had a son.

Kimberlee, your thinking of Eddie Van Halen. He was married to Valerie Bertinelli and they have a son named Wolfgang who now tours with Van Halen.
I think Jon is a hottie for sure. Look at him....he's beautiful and in great shape. His family is also beautiful. 21 years of marriage says something for them. I hope they have 40 plus more years together....!!

Lazarus, If you think Jon Bon Jovi is "dumb as a stump" what does it say about YOU for reading the story? Also, if being "dumb" get the money and fame Jon has, I'll take dumb anyday! Sorry you can't even cut "dumb"!

The one member that they through out was the "Drummer" Tim Mount! Jon thought that he did not have the image for the band, but was an excellent Drummer!!! At the time, Tim was balding and a little overweight and they all had alot of hair and were stick thin! Tico Torres replaced Tim!!
Also, when the guys go out to Drink they never pay for their drinks, they used to make millions and stick Tim with the bill after he was thrown out of the band and had a regular job! They were cheap bastards!

I have followed Bon Jovi my whole life...I grew up in NJ and loved the band before they were a household name...but it is so nice to read something positive about a rocker. I don't care what ANYONE says about Jon he is the best...he supports all sorts of charity, has a great homelife and family and still goes out there and ROCKS>>>>he is the best and I will be a fan forever!!!

I have to say, Jon Bon Jovi and his family are inspirations to family life today, that's for sure! His wife has to be strong and loving to still be married today after the 80's and 90's were so wild, crazy, and FUN! Props to both of them!

LOVE HIM! LOVE THE BAND! And that is one of the reasons. He is an awesome performer and I have been "In love" with him since 1987. I love that he is loyal and a Faithful husband to Dorothea. Although I have to admit, I wish I stood a chance :).
