'Roseanne' Star Sara Gilbert Talks About Sexuality For First Time

Former 'Roseanne' actress Sara Gilbert quietly came out publicly as a lesbian at a press conference during the Television Critics Association conference in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Entertainment Weekly reports. Although she has never discussed her sexuality, it's been widely accepted that she was out of the closet -- as she has two children with TV producer Allison Adler.

One reporter asked Gilbert if she was comfortable being "out" on her new talk show, 'The Talk,' and the actress opened up about her sexuality. "This is a whole new world for me. I'm not an expert on this, or I don't analyze these things," she explained. "I'm just sort of living my life."

"I don't think [being out] will be a problem ... I don't ever really think of things as being out or in ... I just think I am who I am, and when topics come up that are appropriate, I'll talk about them and share when it seems right," she added.

Gilbert and Adler have been together since 2002 and have a son, Levi, 5, and a daughter, Sawyer, who turns 3 in August. Adler gave birth to Levi, while Gilbert gave birth to Sawyer.

"I've been acting my whole life, and I've never really discussed my personal life. This is a talk show, so obviously, I'm going to be discussing my life more, and I felt that the first place I wanted to do it wasn't in a CBS press release. It just seemed impersonal, and I felt like I'd rather come in person and talk to you about all that stuff here," she added.

Gilbert is executive producing and co-hosting 'The Talk,' a 'View'-esque talk show focusing on motherhood and parenting. The other ladies on the panel are Julie Chen, Leah Remini, Holly Robinson Peete, Sharon Osbourne and Marissa Jaret Winokur.

You know, If you had a daughter or a son who was gay, would you disown them? Or Love them as your child? I hava an older brother, and his daughter is gay. He asked me what I thought of her friend once at Christmas, and I replied I thought he was nice, much to my disbelief when he told me he was actualy a girl, I in turn asked him what did he think about that? He said " I can't say nothing against it because keeping my daughter, my daughter is more important. I will love her always and and her choice of lifestyle is her business and not mine".. So again, Think about other peoples feelings as if you have nothing else to do except make derogitory critisisms! There is way more wrong with this world than an individuals lifestyle.

I don't care about her being a lesbian,but what kind of freak names their daughter "Sawyer"?

As for her show,I won't watch it because it will be a henfest,but if I were ever temped to watch it,Sharon Osborne on the cast would kill that urge quickly. Is there no way of getting rid of that arrogant twit?

She cannot have two children by a lesbian love. Biologically just does not work that way. Let's get real here and use the proper language on this - they each have one child (by what method could be mentioned here to be accurate).
Is she really a lesbian? Doubt it. She, like most of Hollywood, live lives of shelfishness based on the goal of sexual addiction which they fulfill any way they can.
Just so happens she gets off with Allison Adler. Good for them.
Given the proper conditions she could get off on a table leg.

What Darlene is now GAY ? I can not believe it. Must of been something Rosaane did to her as a child. DJ is gay too , The whole world is GAY now days. Who really cares , Honestly I know the new show THE TALK will not make it. Actresses and Actors seem to think they can start there own show and it rarely turns out good and never last . Oprah is way over rated , get real. I want my own TV show ! We all knew Darlene was Gay at first sight, Michael Jackson was Gay too no straight man could ever have that much talent..

80-90% of arrested Pedophiles are MEN abusing girls.
What the heck are you reading? It certainly is not meant for people with REALITY in their lives. From culst raping teen girls...to stepfathers attacking stepdaughers.... This is usually a male on female crime.

Most Homosexuals are like straith people. They want to date, go to the movies, have dinner, make love and have relationships with people of adult age. It is no one business, She has a partner of severals years and has kids and has an acting careeer. Leave her be. If the talk show host were to be interviews and the questions got hot how would he or she react??
