More 'American Idol' Shakeups: Kara DioGuardi Fired?

TMZ is reporting Kara DioGuardi has "been fired," citing sources connected with the show's negotiations for next season, which will mark the singing competition's tenth installment.
"We're told the show will be going back to a three-judge format and assuming all deals are finalized, the judge's panel will consist of Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler," TMZ writes, adding that Kara's only chance at staying on 'Idol' is "if the J-Lo deal falls apart -- but we're told that deal is done."
The 39-year-old singer-songwriter joined 'Idol' just two seasons ago, shaking up the hit show's three-judge format. Ellen DeGeneres' departure comes after just one season.
"A couple months ago, I let FOX and the 'American Idol' producers know that this didn't feel like the right fit for me," DeGeneres said in a statement yesterday. "I told them I wouldn't leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next. It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for."
Whatever happens with Kara -- and, holy cow, by the way, J-Lo and Steven Tyler?! -- this will go down as 'Idol's' most turbulent hour yet.
Though Team Lopez and FOX officials have not commented,
Deadline Hollywood is citing a source claiming the singer's manager has been working on the deal "under the utmost secrecy" for a month. The AP is reporting the same, citing a person familiar with the negotiations.

I hear the 3 judges are Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler, and J Lo. I know about this. Might be good, at least Steven and J.Lo are involved in music, unlike Ellen with no musical experience.

NO, NO, NO! J-Lo & Steve Tyler? These two have music careers, how long will they stay around? This isn't fair to Kara, and casting these two is clearly a stunt to keep the ratings high with Simon leaving. It can't possibly last. I truly think the shark is dead ahead on American Idol, and nothing will be the same. American Idol had a good run, but it's time the show ended.

I like Kara. I DO think she knows what she's talking about. She has been in music for a long time but brings a different perspective than Randy Jackson. I really hoped Harry Connick would have taken one of the spots. I think he was one of the most serious and best mentors they've ever had. Still, so many bad things to say about Kara...but I thought she was good.

Why!!!!??? Jennifer Lopez should not be judging on american idol...most of the contestants will be singing better then her. I don't think she even realizes when she is off tune - how will she be able to judge others!!

Paula was not a great singer either. But, she has something -- all those number one singles and albums. Same with J-Lo. She doesn't have the greatest singing voice but she knows how to make the best of what she's got.
I am wondering why all 4 are not replaced. why is randy still there? we keep moving the same people around. randy is out of tune with whats happening...and jlow...doesn't really have a voice ..her raise to fame was after one movie..for sure there has to be some talent out there, that can recognize talent..singing without a back up and all the special effects...you need to make this really really good this time around...you have already lost alot of viewers.

Simon Cowell was the life of that show. He has been proven to be irreplaceable. RIP Idol.

Without Simon on this fading show.....the only save would be Piers Morgan (who is similar to Simon), Randy and ANYONE but Kara.
Please get rid of Randy Jackson!!!!!!!!!! Jennifer Lopez is a horrible choice. She is a manufacted 'glamour' star with no musical talent. She cannot sing!!!!! She falls in the ranks of Taylor Swift, Beyonce and Rihanna who can't sing live. They are all manufacted cover girls who have manufacted voices that are a product of the studio recording session. Theyn they all get million dollar make up, hair and frangrance endorsements. THEY ARE NOT SINGERS!!!!

OMG......What pinhead came up with this. J-lo(in my opiniion should be J-loser)is so over as a revelant artist. Steven tyler has lost so many brain cells(in my opinion)that his own band has doubts as to his continuing abilities. Idol in not the first rate show it thinks it is. Star Search was a better show, and treated contestants better. Nigel Lythgoe should go back under a rock. If you feel the unrelenting desire to change judges, there are many many better choiches. In my opinion, Idol won't get better judges because Nigel would not be the top banana.
