More 'American Idol' Shakeups: Kara DioGuardi Fired?

Less than a day after
Ellen DeGeneres announced her 'American Idol'
departure,
TMZ is reporting Kara DioGuardi has "been fired," citing sources connected with the show's negotiations for next season, which will mark the singing competition's tenth installment.
"We're told the show will be going back to a three-judge format and assuming all deals are finalized, the judge's panel will consist of Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler," TMZ writes, adding that Kara's only chance at staying on 'Idol' is "if the J-Lo deal falls apart -- but we're told that deal is done."
The 39-year-old singer-songwriter joined 'Idol' just two seasons ago, shaking up the hit show's three-judge format. Ellen DeGeneres' departure comes after just one season.
"A couple months ago, I let FOX and the 'American Idol' producers know that this didn't feel like the right fit for me," DeGeneres said in a statement yesterday. "I told them I wouldn't leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next. It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for."
Whatever happens with Kara -- and, holy cow, by the way, J-Lo and Steven Tyler?! -- this will go down as 'Idol's' most turbulent hour yet.
Though Team Lopez and FOX officials have not commented,
Deadline Hollywood is citing a source claiming the singer's manager has been working on the deal "under the utmost secrecy" for a month. The AP is reporting the same, citing a person familiar with the negotiations.

Idol Execs: What happened to Harry Connick, Jr., who was so good as a mentor and showed his amazing talent and enthusiasm right through the actual show.
WHY NOT HARRY CONNICK, JR? Why Ellen in the first place. At least Kara knows music. If you had one ounce of sense, you would get Paula back and add Harry Connick, Jr. - I WILL NOT watch this season for the first time since it began if you go ahead with JLo and S. Tyler.

Nigel Lythgoe should be a top choice. He would be more like Simon. Harry Connick Jr. would also add to the panel as a very knowledgable musician. Let's make it all male??

Honestly, I think this is was a choice of Senority. Randy and Kara are the same perspective and they went with him. In regards to J. Lo and Steven Tyler, I honestly believe the just need one performer. Two performers are much of the same problem. They need to choose another Music Producer heavyweight as the other half of the trio.. I would have love to see P. Diddy, J-LO and Harry Connick Jr as the new judges...

Kara is the most qualified judge and deserves to stay! Her critiques were usually constructive and right on the mark. We need musically intelligent people on this show - not just "fluff"!

Whoever is in charge at AI is loosing their mind. Last year it was Paula, and this year Kara. It looks like Ryan, who is nothing but a talking head is the only safe person on the show. Watch out Randy, you may be next.

A message to J-Lo: There can NEVER be another Michael Jackson. He was unique.Besides, A I is a talent show for females as well as males.
