Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky Wed in New York

After much buzz, Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky married on Saturday in Rhinebeck, New York. About 400 guests were in attendance, including, of course, former President Bill Clinton (aka dad) and Secretary of State HIllary Clinton (aka mom). The wedding was a decidedly uncelebrified affair, though actor pair Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen did attend, along with what PEOPLE calls "a handful of congressmen and other prominent Democrats." Chelsea, who America watched grow up in the White House, wore a dress designed by family friend Vera Wang.

Shortly after the ceremony, Bill and Hillary Clinton released a statement:

"Today, we watched with great pride and overwhelming emotion as Chelsea and Marc wed in a beautiful ceremony at Astor Courts, surrounded by family and their close friends. We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together, and we are so happy to welcome Marc into our family. On behalf of the newlyweds, we want to give special thanks to the people of Rhinebeck for welcoming us and to everyone for their well-wishes on this special day."

Danson commented on the wedding, telling PEOPLE, "We want to wish them the best. They are great kids, very family-oriented."

Chelsea, 30, and Marc, 32, met in 1993, but only began dating in 2005. They live together in New York City.

congratulations to the happy couple. we(the american people) have seen this child grow up before our very eyes and has always behaved like a very fine lady. unlike other presenditial girls that behaved with unsavoury like behaviour. she is like a breath of fresh air

The other "girls" were in the white house during their teen age years which made it very difficult for them to have any type of life without the idiotic reporters.

I don't care for Bill and Hillary but I think Chelsea is probably
a very nice person. Their wedding looked beautiful and she looked pretty. I wish them a lifetime of happiness.

She grew up in the American public eye from the age of 14 to 22 (2 presidential terms) and then the press tracked her through college. She appears to have been a good scholar, stayed out of the "fast lane" and kept her life as private as she could. At the age of 30 she married a young man she has known for more than ten years. By celebrity and internet standards, that sounds pretty dull. She is well groomed, well spoken and appears non pretentious.....very much like Caroline Kennedy, and I'll be willing to bet that she will have the same good marriage track record as other well known and private people.

Your'e kidding right? Take another look at Cheney's kids one in particular has to sneak up on a mirror. Nixon's kids arne't no prize either pal. They probably had to tie a steak around her neck just so the dog would play with her. And Reagan's kids probably keeps the negatives in their family album instead of the real pictures.
