Julia Roberts Derides Botox, Talks Hindu Faith
Julia Roberts believes "your face tells a story," and that's why the 42-year-old actress doesn't ever want to alter her life's narrative with plastic surgery, Botox or any other visage-altering treatments. In Hollywood, growing old gracefully is an endangered and even quaint idea, and Roberts can't understand why.
"It's unfortunate that we live in such a panicked, dysmorphic society where women don't even give themselves a chance to see what they'll look like as older persons," the 'Eat Pray Love' star tells
Elle in its September issue. "I want to have some idea of what I'll look like before I start cleaning the slates."
[Check out the black-and-white image of Julia, above, given to
PopEater exclusively by Elle.]

A key reason she's keeping things natural is to give her the ability to communicate with her kids without confusion on their part.
"I want my kids to know when I'm pissed, when I'm happy, and when I'm confounded," she snarked. "Your face tells a story ... and it shouldn't be a story about your drive to the doctor's office."
Roberts has three children with husband Danny Moder, 5-year-old twins Phinnaeus and Hazel and 3-year-old Henry. "The children became the shooting stars of him, of that thing we have," she tells Elle. "How lucky we are that we love each other so much that we burst into three pieces."
The star's religion may also play a part in her grounded opinion of appearance. In the interview, Roberts reveals that she and her family are Hindus and go to the temple together to "chant and pray and celebrate." The star, whose parents are Baptist and Catholic, says she is "definitely a practicing Hindu."
Since Hindus believe their souls can be reincarnated, where does she think she'll end up next?
"Golly, I've been so spoiled with my friends and family in this life," she says. "Next time I want to be just something quiet and supporting."

I have more of a problem with people who form their opinions on what a celebrity says than to think for themselves.Roberts is paid to ACT.Why would anyone think she has knowledge of religion or real life as would any actor?

Are you kidding? If i've ever seen botox in anyone's lips, I see in Julia's!! She looks like she has had a little nip & tuck to me!! I'll trade my wrinkles for the "monster look" anyday!

"Far-out unbelievable religion or cult'??? And where did you learn that bit of ridiculousness?
Hinduism is one of the oldest religion on the planet, Darin. It's FAR older than Christianity and even older than Buddhism.

But apparently she has nothing against airbrushing. Gimme a break. She is so full of self-importance.

Hinduism is a nonsensical religion. Going to a temple and chanting does not make her Hindu either. I doubt she has actually studied the religion in depth and knows very little about the Gods and Goddesses. She just knows it's trendy.

Don't know much about scientology do you.

yes, aren't these celebs and their "trendy" religions hilarious!

Have you even bothered to study anything about Hinduism? It's a beautiful religion. And honestly, who cares what faith others follow. Either you're scared of anyone not like you, or you're bigoted.

I think your on the right tract with this one, I like Julie Roberts and Tom Cruz, but I think that they are truly missing the real point of Faith...It's to have a one on one relationship with God himself, and nothing you can do on this earth can make you closer than to except Him. Doing good works are good, but they dont get you to heaven. I dont knock her for her beliefs because just like me she have a choice, I just think that instead of pursuing a wonderful relationship with God, people just want to believe in the here and now...thus why there are Hindus and Buddist. God ask really one thing of us and thats to acknowledge His son Jesus and to except Him into our lives...as appose to the Hindus and such...be nice and do nice things and you'll find favor...lol but you wont go to heaven...thats the emptiness of the other religions. God bless to all!

I couldn't of said it better myself! I just had this similiar conversation with a Muslim today.
Maybe in your own faith you believe that people with different beliefs will not go to your Christian heaven, but as Buddhists we do believe in our own heaven that we will go to, and this heaven is seven different levels, and which level you go to depends intirely on your karma, or how well you conduct your life. Now lemme tell you something, you have your faith and I have mine, so when you say people of other faiths cannot not go to heaven you better clarify that the people of other faiths will not go to the Christian believed heaven. Has anybody ever seen " The God who wasn't there"?
I am familiar with Hinduism. My neighbor is a Brahman. I've accepted an invitation to his Beautiful Hindu Temple. I observed their rituals including laying prostrate in front of various staues representing different gods and even offering them food.
If it's right for you then so be it. If Julia Roberts was raised Baptist and is now considering Hinduism she was never convicted to her beliefs in the first place. Like Madonna she searching for for spiritual peace and contentment.

Being a hindu the only thing Julia will be after she dies....is dead ! She must not have been paying attention to her Christian parents while she was growing up. Only Christ Jesus, the only living God(all other gods being worshiped are dead),promises enternal life. (Romans 10:9)"That if you confess with your mouth,Jesus is your Lord and Savior, and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved".
