Katy Perry Blasts Lady Gaga Over God: Quips & Quotes

In this time of celebrity entourages and PR protection, it's rare for a star to make a false statement. But Hollywood is nowhere near perfect, and every so often its peeps will make an off-color comment or reveal more than they intended to. This week, the world of entertainment seems to have folded in on itself. We have crazy things happening, like Sarah Palin's daughter taking up all the ink and online space, or former Fugees member Wyclef running for president of Haiti. Perhaps most intriguing of all is the musician tiff between Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, two titans currently on the charts. According to Perry, God, sex and music do not mix.

She didn't say it was wrong for Gaga (or herself) to be sexual, she said "I think when you put sex and spirituality in the same bottle and shake it up, bad things happen." I generally tend to agree but music videos have been mixing sex and spirituality since the early Madonna days on MTV, usually for the purpose of shock value.

Oh please, Katy. Don't get preachy with us about a Lady Gaga video when we got to see you not only lying naked on a cloud of cotton candy, but prancing around in a hypersexual Candy Land (that has probably appealed to many children upon viewing on YouTube or wherever) with frosting shooting out from your boobs only a week after Alejandro debuted. Grow a pair and stop trying to sell yourself as some beacon of godly light when you're anything but.

Ms. Perry has impressed me over the past few months. I find that despite what I may of thought of her she really does have a conscience and fortunately for her, it has survived the crushing effects that Hollywood, music, and celebrity can have on the soul. Proud of her for her stance. At least she isn't some tail-wagging extreme lib who bends every direction to please her "peers". I hope she continues to set a higher standard for herself and others. Other point, the candy-land video was...revealing but no less than other entertainers.
Stand strong, Ms. Perry, keep the faith and you'll be fine. Probably why God has graced you with your success.
