He's been around forever, yet Joseph Gordon-Levitt has still seemed to fly under the radar for much of his career. That was, until the dream within the dream.
With his turn as the 'Point Man' in the summer hit 'Inception,' fans of "JGL" are becoming increasingly vocal about their love for the actor. His character in the film, who wears dashing three-piece suits and kicks serious ass in dreamworld zero gravity, has also garnered him a bevy of new fans.
Sure, he's always been a good actor -- but suddenly, the World Wide Web seems to be totally under his spell. Could Gordon-Levitt be the Internet's new boyfriend?
Here, our friend Gabrielle Dunn presents some evidence that Gordon-Levitt has sneakily been the most awesome person in Hollywood all along.
He runs an online production company, HitRECord.org
Gordon-Levitt has been running his own production company for years -- and it's brilliant. HitRECord.org allows users to upload art, music, videos, text or other creative projects and collaborate with others on the site to make "RECords" or projects together.
Products from HitRECord have screened at Sundance, and some have even starred Gordon-Levitt and fellow actor Channing Tatum. Gordon-Levitt doesn't only run the company, he has his own account and regularly contributes songs and artwork with the 10,000 other users under the username "RegularJoe." Indeed.
Browse the site -- whose membership has doubled in the last few weeks -- and prepare to be blown away by all the talent JGL's company has gathered on the web.
Everyone knows that fan sites are rabid to pick up on any remotely amusing interview a celebrity does and Gordon-Levitt definitely makes sure his are all YouTube-worthy.
While taping 'The Late Show with David Letterman,' for example, Gordon-Levitt rolled around 53rd Street in New York City in a giant plastic bubble, while wearing a suit no less. If that's not worth a repeated viewing, we don't know what is.

He understands and uses both Twitter and Tumblr
Sure, plenty of celebrities use Twitter, but how many of them blog on Tumblr as well?
Gordon-Levitt recently posted a video on his personal Tumblr blog (yes, he has one!) of his injuries after a wreck while filming in NYC. Gordon-Levitt flew off his bike through the glass of a taxi window and required 31 stitches on his arm. Even though he's bleeding profusely in the video, he still cracks jokes and smiles.
So not only does he use the latest social networking sites, but he uses them to poke fun at himself? Sigh. Our hero.
Gordon-Levitt also posts regular video blogs, which he always opens with the greeting, "Regular Joe here!" Seriously. Is he real?
He turned the tables on the paparazzi and uploaded the video
In 2007, Gordon-Levitt schooled some paparazzi and ultimately made them his "friends." Apparently, the photogs chased down him and a male friend because they believed he was Gordon-Levitt's boyfriend.
Instead of getting angry, Gordon-Levitt turned his own camera on them and asked why they do what they do. It's one of the most interesting interactions between subject and photographer since, well, Fellini's 'La Dolce Vita.' (Just watch the video to get this joke.)

His movies are incredibly quotable
Is there a better, weirder, more romantic line than this, from Gordon-Levitt's character Tom to Zooey Deschanel's Summer in '(500) Days of Summer'? "Darling, I don't know how to tell you this, but there's a Chinese family in our bathroom."

Let's also not forget what a masterpiece '10 Things I Hate About You' is. Lines from that pinnacle of teen movie achievement have permeated the zeitgeist even years later. Although Gordon-Levitt mostly plays the adorable straight man in the movie, he holds his own next to the late Heath Ledger in one of the late actor's best roles.

I have been watching him for years, and I thought that of all the actors out there who could fill the Heath Ledger void, he would be the one. He is a great, understated actor, whom I think chooses his roles wisely (if you ignore GI Joe). I am always interested in what he will do next, because I know it will be great. And Brick was brilliant.
Wow, I would say the photogs were aholes, not him. especially the older one. Love, love, love this actor since 30 rock. I watched Ten Things over and over when I was a teenaged girl.
This kid is great in everything he's been in. He's truly a gifted actor! He's been in movies and tv shows since he was quite little. He's always had that unique cuteness to him. I'm glad he's getting more attention. He deserves it.
I have loved him since I was little, I'm 18 now so I'm re-experiencing all the things he did and it just makes me appreciate him more. I beyond love (500) Days Of Summer. Kinda sad they didn't end up together but I guess that's more representative of real life, people don't always end up together. JGL I really enjoy your work xx
I can get on board with all those reasons except the "quotable lines" - there are script writers out there now reading this and slowly considering suicide. When will people realize that these actors are given these wonderful, quotable lines by a brilliant writer. Sure, the delivery is part of what makes it great, but it isn't like the actors make this sh*t up themselves. I do like him and his movies, but lets just keep things in persepctive.

Let's not forget 'Brick', a brilliant but often overlooked movie, as well as "The Lookout'.

Saw him on SNL. He was terrific.
He was in the low budget, "Latter Days", which was really a rather interesting movie.

must be me. I just don't get him, not even in that tv show about the aliens. And certainly not in Heath Ledger's league.

He is genuine and charming, knew he would be a big star when I first saw him on "That 70's Show", years ago.

He did a fantastic job in "The Inception", especially the weightless scenes. Keep up the good work, Joe.
