Jessica Simpson Says No More Barbie Figure, Magazine Photos Say Otherwise

Jessica Simpson may soon be eating her words. Though the 30-year-old singer
tells Lucky she is finally at "peace" with her fuller figure and curves, the magazine's photos of its September cover girl have apparently been heavily airbrushed to make her appear magically slim again.
"We all obsess over looking like the perfect Barbie type, and that's not always what's beautiful," the pop star says. "It's about making peace with yourself."
Is it? Then why does the magazine cover and, to a much greater extent, the inside photo spread feature the star looking exactly like the perfect Barbie type? Could it be a case of "Do as I say, not as (Lucky and) I do"?

The Conde Nast magazine didn't respond to a request for comment from
PopEater. But its seemingly photoshopped pictures have created a mini-uproar in the blogosphere.
Some Lucky-bashers point to the singer's disproportionate head and body in the shots. Others remind us of pictures snapped only a few weeks ago showing a still-rounder-looking Jessica, who has noticeably gained weight -- and taken heat for it -- in recent months.

"While I appreciate the comments [Jessica Simpson] makes about loving and accepting her body, I would find them more believable if she did not allow the magazine to airbrush her until her body looks nothing like the 'real' Jessica," writes one Lucky reader. "These are the ways we could actually induce change rather than just giving it lip service. The body in these pictures is NOT the body we see in candid shots. I doubt it could hold up the head on top of it in real life. Come on Jessica!! Take a REAL stand!"
The magazine is also accused of being "insulting," "sickening" and deceptive in comments posted on its website.
"Can we get real here?" fumes a reader. "Jessica Simpson has a beautiful body -- but it looks nothing like this!! She is healthy and has curves -- it is nothing to be ashamed of and airbrushed away. I'm disgusted."
The Simpson spread is timed to publicize the new VH1 series she filmed called 'The Price of Beauty,' for which she traveled the world to witness crazy things women do to look pretty.
The blurb with the photos says she has undergone a change in her own style and fine-tuned her ideas about what is beautiful "by coming to terms with some serious body issues over the course of the last year."
"She stopped fighting her hourglass silhouette," writes Lucky.
And the star echoes those sentiments in interviews she's done since she's returned from shooting, telling Us Weekly that stressing out about weight "is just a woman thing -- unless you're the women we don't like that are supermodels [and] just naturally fantastic."
"I'm a curvy girl," Simpson said. "I have to always be conscious of everything I'm putting into my body."
It isn't the first time Simpson, like countless other stars, has been dogged by airbrush rumors. She's confessed that plenty of her pictures have been spruced up.
"I don't look like the girl on the cover of the magazine," Simpson told
The Huffington Post in March. "I do not look like my covers. My covers! They airbrush me."

She looks so much prettier through the face, shoulders & neck when she is at a healthy weight. Which doesn't mean she necessarily has to have a barbie figure. But don't let depression convince you that it's just so much easier to settle for less than do the work to beat the depression and be happy once again!

So true...this REAL figured sweetheart has got it all...sexy, talent and a nice disposition. So very cute, sexy AND talented. Yum Yum!
Doesn't these magazine people realize that when they airbrush someone's body they need to slim down the face as well. Jessica's face is not matching her body. She is a beautiful woman and does not need to be airbrushed. However, when you get to a certain size the black/white cow print is off limits
Those breast implants make her look at least 15 pounds heavier to begin with. Ease up on the corn dogs, Jess.
Are these pictures of Jessica ?? It looks nothing like the real gal - I would never have known it was her. TOO MUCH PHOTOSHOP ! The real Jessica looks much better and much healthier.
The photo is totally her head on someone else's body or it has been "photoshopped!" P L E A S E!

Here's something I bet nobody ever thought of: why do we slam the person who got airbrushed rather than the person who did the airbrushing?

I totally agree with you. It's not like she handed them the airbrushed pics, they( the photographer and magazine) did the air brushing. A lot of times ppl don't see the pics until the mag. hits stands.
You are so right. The airbrushing in this so blatantly obvious. The shadow actually depicts the "real" Jessica. Look at the roundness in the armpit, the fuller ribcage, the fuller arm. Now look at the photo - no roundness in the armpit, a shadow that is almost nonexistent in the hips and thighs, a waist that is cinched like a hangman's noose and a face that is almost unrecognizable along with a chin shadow that is not the shape of the her chin in the photo. This is a lousy job and does not even resemble the real Simpson. This person and the magazine is to blame, not Jessica, though I would respect her more if she slammed them for doing it like Aniston and others have done.
Exactly! It's not Jessica's fault that the pics were altered... the sad part is they didn't even do a good job airbrushing the pics. Her face doesn't match the body.
Like always, Jessica Simpson is one big contradiction. Rarely do her actions match her words.

I don't get the rage at Jessica. It should be at the magazine, and every other women's/celeb/fashion magazine on the planet. They are the ones that decide the pictures "need" to be airbrushed. People are idiots for blaming her.

I totally agree. It's ridiculous to think she has any control over that. Once she poses for the photos, they are the property of the magazine and it chooses what gets airbrushed and what doesn't. If people want to be furious it should be with the people in charge, not Jessica Simpson.
To me she is a very, very, pretty and sexy lady...

She is a very beautiful lady heavy or not !

dont ya love how where you go to the pictures and there is about 50 all taken within 5 seconds apart. just a movement of the arm is the only difference in all the pictures

I have this issue and noticed how different she looked in her face. She used to have a different shaped chin. I believe she even had a dimple in her chin.

It doesn't look like her face..They air brushed her face also..How Awful of them..They should be disgusted with themselves. Evidently they don't think the people they put in their magazines are pretty enough or they wouldn't change them so drastically. I will never buy this magazine again or any magazine, you can't believe anything you see or read in them anymore. It's all about sensationalism and sales, it's not about truth.
THAT'S what's missing! I have asked myself every time I've seen a picture of her lately -- what is different about her face?? And it's her pretty dimple in her chin. What happened to it??
Yeah, thats not her bod in the photo,Ive seen photos of her MUCH heavier.I couldnt believe when I saw her weight go up so much. That figure was her only selling point in my mind.I heard she sang or something but it would have to be some sort of pop music which I wouldnt listen to if you paid me to listen to it......daisy duke is what people expect.......HOWEVER,it only matters that she is happy and if having a fuller look pleases her thats totally fine with me,I certainly could never care less.
