While promoting her movie 'The Switch' earlier this week, Jennifer Aniston told reporters that women don't need men to start a family or be good mothers. When Bill O'Reilly caught wind of her statement, he debated the topic of single motherhood on 'The O'Reilly Factor' and called out the 41-year-old actress. "She's throwing a message out to 12-year-olds and 13-year-olds that, 'Hey you don't need a guy. You don't need a dad.' That is destructive to our society," O'Reilly railed.
FOX News contributor Margaret Hoover and FOX News anchor Gretchen Carlson debated the topic with O'Reilly, admitting young teens wouldn't be able to comprehend the vast differences between a 40-year-old woman and a teenager raising a child as a single mother. "She is glamorizing single parenthood," Carlson said.
In 'Switch,' Aniston plays a woman who elects to take on life as a single parent through artificial insemination. During the movie's press conference in LA, the actress admitted "times have changed" and women don't need to rely on men to be good mothers.
"Women are realizing more and more that you don't have to settle, they don't have to fiddle with a man to have that child," Aniston said. "They are realizing if it's that time in their life and they want this part they can do it with or without that."
O'Reilly called out the actress, deeming her message inappropriate. "Jennifer Aniston can hire a battery of people to help her. But she can't hire a dad. Dads bring a psychology to children that in this society is under emphasized. Men get hosed all day long in the parental arena," he ranted.
"Any man who leaves their children is not a man. Let's make that perfectly clear. But the fathers that do try hard are under appreciated and diminished by people like Jennifer Aniston," he continued.
Finally, O'Reilly challenged Aniston to come on his show and defend her statement. "If she wants to explain, she can get her butt right in here."
Bill is so full of his uppity self he could never understand the real truth...my mother raised us back in the 50's and 60's by herself .....my father got a bar hog pregnant and that was the end of my family structure...however,I had a strong mother because she had dignity and self respect....she needed him like she needed a whole in the head...We grew up in a quiet ,safe home....women certainly don't need a man for anything...thats the power of it and Bill just can't handle it
Sadly, I believe, we men have brought this mess on ourselves by abandoning our families for some pathetic romantic interest or other. Women have learned, the hard way, that they can raise pretty good children without our help. It is a heartbreaking fact of life but that is the way it is. Only if we men can own this truth and change our ways, will things in the American family ever get better.
What BillO'Nastyfan neglects to realize is that the statements made by Jennifer Anniston are for the most part ignored by young teens. They don't watch her movies, they don't care what she says or does. She isn't even on the radar of a kid that age. Now, if someone like Katy Perry or Lady Gaga or Miley Cyrus said something like that, it might be different. Teens DO listen to what they say, teens DO watch what they do. But to suggest that an actress in her early 40's (or late 30's, however old Anniston is) needs to be mindful of her "teenage audience" when she speaks, is ludicrous. She doesn't HAVE a teenage audience! Bill O'Nasty needs to shut the hell up, and stop trying to create a story where there isn't one, and drama where there isn't any. Was it a slow news day in Washington that day?
Once again Oreilly is right on target. Aniston is just another in a long line of idiotic actors These people should learn to take their money and keep their mouths shut. Maybe 5 percent of all of them have a real brain.
So because she is a celebrity, she forfeits the right to an opinion? You have an opinion, what makes you so special that you can voice yours, but she can't voice hers? Get over it. If you were 'someone', you would be the biggest mouth out there. O'Nasty gets paid to voice his (worthless) opinion. Is that what makes his opinion more important than that of any other celebrity?
you are 100% right, this woman, beside that she is ugly, she is stupid. God created a man, and a woman to have a nice family. Seems like she did not have a nice childhood, and did not grow with a father, and now she is giving her sad opinion.
am i the only one who read the part where she said "Women" not "girls or teenage girls" If your not sure try having a logical conversation with a teenage girl about the subject of birth control and then have the same conversation with a grown Woman. He has twisted her words. I'm sure if she meant to send that message to teenage girls she would have said "teenage girls" not "women"
Eddie, I don't have a strong opinion on this particular issue but I just wonder why it is that Bill O'Reilly is more qualified to make a judgment on anything that anyone says. Actors are a large group and have the same statistical intelligence curve as any other large group (although it doesn't seem like it is because the media only reports on statements by the loons on both sides. For example, listen to Molly Sims try to argue Republican positions. Yikes!!). The fact that anybody considers the opinions of Beck, O'Reilly, Olberman etc. to be more valid than any random person you might pick off the street is scary. O'Reilly got his start on Inside Edition for crying out loud!

True, the educated teens know Bill O- and hopefully they are also educated enough to know not to take the word of a pompous know-it-all as gospel!

I love Jenifer and she can say anything she wants, but I think she's wrong.
he must be bored to really care what Jennifer Aniston said. I highly doubt she was thinking of the 12 & 13 year olds out there.

That is part of his point. She is just flapping her gums without thinking of the impact of her statments. Typical celebrity.

Kids and culture ARE influenced by what air-head stars say like Anniston. I agree with O'Reilly that this is destructive.
