Jennifer Lopez Out as 'American Idol' Judge?
Despite on-going negotiations to bring
Jennifer Lopez on as an 'American Idol' judge, FOX may have kicked her to the curb,
PEOPLE reports. "Her demands got out of hand," says the source. "Fox had just had enough." Last week, sources told PopEater's
Rob Shuter that Lopez was only offered the job after several big-name celebrities, including Elton John and Barry Manilow, turned down offers to be permanent judges. "J.Lo was definitely not the first choice," an 'Idol' insider told PopEater. "In fact, she wasn't even the second or third choice."
After Ellen DeGeneres announced her 'American Idol'
departure,
TMZ reported that Kara DioGuardi had "been fired," citing sources connected with the show's negotiations for next season, which will mark the singing competition's tenth installment.
"We're told the show will be going back to a three-judge format and assuming all deals are finalized, the judge's panel will consist of Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and
Steven Tyler," TMZ writes, adding that Kara's only chance at staying on 'Idol' is "if the J-Lo deal falls apart -- but we're told that deal is done."
FOX had been pursuing a number of celebrities as potential judges, including Aerosmith's Tyler. No word on who will replace Lopez.

"No word on who will replace Lopez."
If they're looking for equal talent, a potted plant will do nicely.
if you take the time to read about Cyndi Lauper you will find out she has done much in the music industry over many years collaborating with many talented musicians and producers
Wonder what her demands were. Hopefully they will get at least 1 female judge.

Good Lord, I hope this doesn't mean Kara DioGuardi will be returning to the show. I thought we were rid of that useless blusterbag. I hope FOX can preserve their proposed deal with J Lo because I think the three judge panel of Jackson, J Lo and Steven Tyler would be great. Please keep Kara off this year FOX!!

Is it too big a stretch to think that perhaps IDOL might think of getting a judge who can actually sing?
Or at least one that can carry a tune?

I would love to see someone like Paul McCartney, Celine Dion, Billy Joel, Tina Turner, to name a few. A variety of musical background. James Taylor, Someone from the Rolling Stones, The Who. Their music never grows old.

"FOX had been pursuing a number of celebrities as potential judges, including Aerosmith's Steven Tyler. No word on who will replace Lopez." How can you call it "replace" when the person never started the job????? There are many talented musician/singer/songwriters out there they'll find someone who doesn't have a prima donna attitude. What about someone like Cheryl Crow?

Cyndi Lauper was a great idea. What happend to Bret Michaels being a judge, I thought he would be good. Also, I know he is really busy and not on the B list but would love Jon BonJovi to be on.

Mercifully viewers of this show may have been saved the prospect of Lopez posturing on this failing show. Tyler is hardly a good choice, either. No doubt FOX will cobble up something but the show is likely to remain in the doldrums. It lacks the pure sparkle of SYTYCD and is basically boring. There is a limited number of truly wow impacting singers out there as the last series proved.

Lose J-Lo - oh, hell, that's no loss!

When was she IN as a judge ? Never, not yet, not gonna be......

Harry Connick Jr. really impressed me when he was on. He was very experienced, outgoing, and quite funny. Someone mentioned James Taylor here . . . wow, great idea. I've watched a couple of his cable concerns . . . and he is very funny. Not a fan of Lopez. I do like the idea of Cyndi lauper too.

Alice Cooper would be a great judge

Randy Jackson too, needs to be let go! Get three fresh, revitalized, honest, literate persons that are capable of being neutral and know what is needed to succeed in the workforce, entertainment or not, someone that is business savvy. Thank God, I am so very glad that the greedy, no talent, arrogant Jennifer Lopez is out! She's not all that, and should've been grateful for the opportunity to have a job, as of now, she's certainly washed up!
Get Julio Englesais, Rod Stewart, Sting, Jon Bon Jovi, Gloria Estefan, Tommy Mattola, Smokey Robinson, Neil Diamond, Neil Sedaka, Tony Bennett, Aretha Franklin, John Legend, Gladys Knight, even the past American Idol contestants would do well as judges. Sorry the show is over without Simon Cowell!

BIG Mistake, J lo would have been Great !! She would have bought your rating up. She has a good following. Also she has the talent and personality that draws people. Think twice...

Jimmy Fallon may be a choice, has music knowledge and I believe would be able to speak up, remain neutral and add fun to the show! Seriously, without Simon Cowell, the show is nothing!
Get rid of all the judges, revamp and refresh with three new people that would be able to remain neutral, give constructive criticism and help the contestants grow by being empathetic. First and foremost, American Idol, I believe was built on the premise that the person to win the talent was a novice and not a seasoned artist, as the contestants that were on the past two or three seasons, that is what made the show boring and the fact that Simon wasn't his crude, rude and downright brutally honest critiquing self!
