Angelina Jolie: Shiloh Loves Dressing Like a Boy
Angelina Jolie is sick and tired of the media criticizing her daughter's tomboy look, admitting little Shiloh Jolie-Pitt likes to wear boys' clothing and even wanted a short hair cut because "she thinks she's one of the brothers."
In a new interview with
UK magazine Stylist, the 'Salt' star insists Shiloh calls the shots when it comes to her attire, and that's just fine with Jolie.
"It's not my choice," Jolie, 35, says of Shiloh's wardrobe, which includes polo shirts, cargo pants, hoodies and boys' swim trunks.
"I have a very strong-willed four-year-old girl who tells me what she wants to wear and I let her be who she is."
That includes letting her lop off her locks into a super-short style. "Shiloh cried and said, 'Please cut my hair off, I don't want to have long hair,'" explains the actress. "I'm not going to leave it long because somebody thinks I should."
Jolie, who is also the mother of Maddox, 9, Pax, 6, Zahara, 5, and 2-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, extends the same freedom to all her children. "My other daughter Zahara dresses very much like a girl, very pink and flowery, very feminine," she notes.
As for Shiloh, don't expect her to trade in her vests and neckties for frilly frocks anytime soon. "I want to do what's in her heart and what's in her heart is to dress like that. I think it's beautiful," Jolie says of Shiloh's style.

Parents are supposed to guide their children. A 4 year old isnt supposed to be in control. Remind her she is a girl and let her add a personal -touch- to her clothes, but dont let her dress and act and -think- she is a boy!
It is this kind of PC thinking that has the world in the mess it is in today.

thats exactly what i was going to say patti.
Seriously, it's just CLOTHES! It's not that serious. If it were something more drastic, where her life would have a major effect; that would be something different.
It's your kind of sex typed thinking that is abusive, lady. Step out of the dark ages.
YOU PEOPLE are what's wrong with the world!! You give your children phobias by getting all upset when they want to be different, making them feel ashamed for wanting to be themselves and setting them up for a lifetime of trying to please others and being miserable because of it! I was the same way as a kid. I wanted to be a boy. I wore my brother's hand-me-downs proudly, had my hair short, and hung out with boys catching snakes and lizards. I rode my brother's bike, too, not wanting a sissy girl's bike. And do you know what happened to me? I turned into a well adjusted adult who is happy with herself, who raised three children to always be true to who they are, because you can't please everyone so you got to please yourself. Shiloh is beautiful because she is being who she is, and those of you who dismiss what a four year old wants because she's just a four year old, I feel sorry for your children! Help them pay for their therapy someday, will you? Give your kids choices and they'll be so much happier. You can do that and still be a parent, you know!
1st the kids has a stupid hollyweird name like shiloh, 2nd she'll be exposed to drugs at a young age, be taught that sex is ok at a young age, hey whatever you want is ok as long as you feel good, that is how this kid is going to end up an od before reaching 25.
clothes are the least of this kid's worries.
Jolie is just living the way she wishes she could be through that little GIRL...remember she did have a relationship with a woman, before she became a "sex symbol"..which is a laugh since she looks like a used up drug addict
OMG people it is just a child picking her clothes... I was 8 and still wearing boy shorts and no shirt!!! What was the big deal... I am married and have been for 25 years. My daughter did the same exact thing and she is fine what the hell
She's 4. When I was 4 I wanted to be wizard - I slept with my wand and my parent's had to sneak my cape off when I slept to wash it. Needless to say I cannot wield magic and turn trees into butterflies. Do you remember what the world was like when you were 4? Did you turn into what you fantasized about when you were 4? All she has at her age is her imagination - leave her alone - she'll have to grow up fast enough as it is.
it seems that the Parent is SHILOH and not JOLIE AND BRAD>.. its a shame that a 4yr old tells them wat she wants ... She is a GIRL not a BOY .. SHE also needs attention from the parents It seems that the boys get most of the attention so she wants to be one of the boys to get the same attention...
and i agree with PATTI

Then you also need to step out of the dark ages. Closed minded people like you are what is wrong with this world.
I think everyone needs to lighten up. My now 16 year old demanded to dress and even play like a boy starting at age 3. SHes now a lovely and feminine young lady who dresses and behaves like a girl. Too much focus is on Angelina and her brood because shes in the public eye. If the tables were turned im sure people would find things they object about how every raises their kids. Kids are ever evolving so her look with change many times over during her youth. People need to chill out and not be so judgemental.

Jolie brings the focus to herself by going out and adopting kids like everyone else goes out and buys clothes, the only time you see her with them is when the public starts to dislike her...and what better way to bring attention to yourself than parade your BIOLOGICAL little GIRL around looking like a boy??!! By God you wouldn't see her parade PAX around in a dress if he wanted to...personally I think she doesn't like Shilo, not saying she doesn't love her, I just think she doesn't like her..I don't think she likes any of her BIOLOGICAL kids, just cause she didn't buy them
Guarantee they are trying to force her into being Lesbian ... Guarantee it! So they can be loving, adoring parents not matter what their child's lifestyle "choice" is.... Hollywood makes me sick!

you cannot make someone a lesbian, they are born that way, it is a genetic thing, I have studied this for years, however I dont agree that they should let her think she is a boy, just plain stupid IMO.
i always dressed like a boy when i was young, i used to play baseball with all boys, i didn't have a friend that was a girl until i started school, i used to play football, kickball, basketball with all boys, i grew up with boys and dressed like one, my old daughter is the same way, she loves spiderman and wears spiderman shirts all the time, i don't think that wrong at all

Force her into being a lesbian? No one can be forced she is what she is and I don't think the way she dreses at age 4 is going to determine her way of life. You can't be forced into being something you are not. God bless them all.

For all of those that insist it's bad for a 4 year old to dress themselves.... how naive are you? If she doesn't want long hair, why should you force her to leave it long? If she doesn't want to wear dresses, why should she have to? I have always hated dresses. And being in my late 20's with 3 beautiful children and a wonderful husband.... obviously, not wearing dresses didn't turn me into a lesbian. Cheez.....
And anyway.... so what if she turns out to be a lesbian? It has nothing to do with any of you.

YOU GO SHILOH AS THE GREAT DR. SEUSS WOULD SAY, "BE WHO YOU ARE AND SAY WHAT YOU FEEL BECAUSE THOSE WHO MIND DON'T MATTER AND THOSE WHO MATTER DON'T MIND.

Everyone on here is ridiculous.Saying that they're turning her into a lesbian or making her think she's a boy is ridiculous. She is probably just going through a tom boy phase just like most girls do.I did it.On and off even.Girly-girl to tom boy. No big deal.
