Angelina Jolie: Shiloh Loves Dressing Like a Boy

Angelina Jolie is sick and tired of the media criticizing her daughter's tomboy look, admitting little Shiloh Jolie-Pitt likes to wear boys' clothing and even wanted a short hair cut because "she thinks she's one of the brothers."

In a new interview with UK magazine Stylist, the 'Salt' star insists Shiloh calls the shots when it comes to her attire, and that's just fine with Jolie.

"It's not my choice," Jolie, 35, says of Shiloh's wardrobe, which includes polo shirts, cargo pants, hoodies and boys' swim trunks.

"I have a very strong-willed four-year-old girl who tells me what she wants to wear and I let her be who she is."

That includes letting her lop off her locks into a super-short style. "Shiloh cried and said, 'Please cut my hair off, I don't want to have long hair,'" explains the actress. "I'm not going to leave it long because somebody thinks I should."

Jolie, who is also the mother of Maddox, 9, Pax, 6, Zahara, 5, and 2-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, extends the same freedom to all her children. "My other daughter Zahara dresses very much like a girl, very pink and flowery, very feminine," she notes.

As for Shiloh, don't expect her to trade in her vests and neckties for frilly frocks anytime soon. "I want to do what's in her heart and what's in her heart is to dress like that. I think it's beautiful," Jolie says of Shiloh's style.

Did Shiloh call the shots when she was an infant???? This beautiful child has been dressed like a boy since she was born. Angelina is a weirdo always has been. Will someone please put a dress on that child & a bow in her hair at least once in a while!!! Brad step up to the plate .

Leave the kid alone. You would never catch me in a dress unless I had to. I was always playing with the boys much more fun. I was your basic tom boy. The kid is fine.

If it were about Shiloh...I would agree in not to make such a big fuss. However, I think it's more about Angelina and what she wants. Although you can not determine the sexuality of a person you can help to confuse them. Children have a tendency to be loyal to their parents and want to please them especially at such a young age. Perhaps Shiloh is doing what she thinks her mother wants her to do. Angelina Jolie is all about Angelina Jolie.

I know she is just a child, but that kid looks weird, in that one pic of her getting on the plane the little kid looks so butch it is just ridiculous, she'll be the next Chaz!

I agree with Joyce, Jim, Jess, Robyn and the other writers. It's just clothes and Shiloh is expressing herself. It's sad when the rest of you think it's about pushing her to be a lesbian. Or that Shiloh runs the house. She is expressing herself. My 16 year old daughter dresses to suit herself. She doesn't care for all the feminine style of dressing or being color coordinated. And she's not a lesbian. She is, just like her siblings, expressing herself through her style of dress. I thought that's what we as parents were to do - to raise her children to be who they are, not what society thinks they should be. God bless us all.

Def. not a fan of Jolie, but I do agree with her on this. Letting kids pick out what they want to wear is such a small deference in the big scheme of things. It makes them feel independent and confident, nothing wrong with that at all!

I had only brothers growing up and wanted nothing to do with dresses and flowers -but loves stealing their shirts and jackets. Jeans and t-shirts all the way and I still dress that way - I'm married with 4 kids, dressing like a boy did not turn me into a lesbian - that's a ridiculous statement. Leave the kid alone....

Oh please people, I was a tom-boy growing up. It didn't affect my choices regarding sexuality. You are who you are. Lighten up, leave the child alone to make her own decisions in life. She may grow up to be a model like her mother.

Why would she let her grow up thinking she is a boy. Another Chasity Bono in the making here. Instead of feeding into her misguided notion, the Holie needs to sit her down and tell her she is not a boy and dress the kid appropriately. She has some resentment with Shiloh or something, she does not care about that child like she does her adopted ones. She has alway's been different with her. Maybe, this is Shiloh's way of getting some attention from the ho that is rasing her in a bad way.

Gee Angie...maybe you should call Cher and chat with her...then you will at least have an idea what this stupid thinking of yours may lead to....seems to me this little GIRL has identy problems....and maybe they should be addressed NOW...or maybe she should start dressing the boys in dresses...since it does not seem to be important to MOM...P.S. You have to pick your fights. If letting her dress how she wants is going to get you through the day, then so be it. It's not that big of a deal. If she wants to play with something dangerous, or starts talking smack, that's when you put your foot down. You have to learn not to sweat the small stuff.

Real intelligent Tony. I bet if Cher hadn't allowed Chastity to dress like that she'd be a heterosexual today. Read much?
