Katie Holmes Talks Homeschooling Suri & Marriage to Tom Cruise
Katie Holmes and her daughter Suri can't set foot outside without the peering eyes of the paparazzi hoping to catch a glimpse of the mother-daughter duo and what they're wearing.
In the new issue of
NY Magazine, Holmes praises her little fashionista, admitting Suri started picking out her own clothing (including her infamous
high heels) when she was just 18 months old.
"She picks out all of her own clothes and has since she was 1½," Holmes admits.
Even Holmes' gorgeous Met Gala attire and accessories were hand picked by Suri. "Tom and I went to the Met ball a couple of years ago, and I had this beautiful red gown and these royal-blue shoes that I wasn't planning on wearing, but Suri made me put them on and so I was like, 'Okay, I trust you.'"
How she and Tom Cruise balance their busy schedules:
"We have quite a schedule, you know? We don't say, 'When I'm working, you don't work,' or anything like that. Last year he was shooting 'Knight and Day' and I was shooting 'The Romantics,' and we'd just fly to see each other after we wrapped. And we homeschool Suri -- she has a teacher who is with her every day. We like the one-on-one education. I'm happy that my daughter is strong-willed and determined. You really have to go with what the child is wanting."
Her reaction to speculations about her marriage:
"It's there, it's one of those things. My big concern is what does he have going, what do I have going, what are we going to do this weekend. It must seem weird, I guess, having so many people watching. It is weird. I get it. But you just, you know, smile and nod."

She better home school Suri, she is and will be so bratty, no other kids will be friends with her. Since when do kids tell the parents what to do? Can't wait til these brats are teens, many problems ahead. LOL

You mean like your brats are already?
Great mom, calling other kids bratty. Have you met Suri?
I bet your kids suffer because of your narcissism.
OK, Suri isn't a brat, her Dad is!!!!!!! Stop you are being glib.
Home school???Why?

If you were Tom Cruise, the biggest movie star in the ENTIRE WORLD, would you be so cruel as to send your kid to school, at the prey of crazy parents and paparazzi?
I sure hope not.
having a brother in Scientology (he also had to choose between family and the church)(he chose the church and said goodbye to our mother,my brothers and me 8 years ago). Scientologist's WILL NOT PUT THEIR KIDS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS, ONLY SCIENTOLGY SCHOOLS WHICH SHE WILL ATTEND WHEN SHE GETS OLDER.
Dear:
It is only YOUR opinion about his worldly stardom. However, many stars children do attend private school and are not scared for life. The Presidents children go to private school, the Windsors attend private schools......why is that Tom Pansy Cruises' kid so different? Maybe she will go to school and tell how, "Daddy tries on all of Mommy's high-heals when she is in the shower."
I would never call a child bratty, its just not nice.
Suri is a adorable little girl, her mother is beautiful too.
I think Katie is the most beautiful woman in hollywood myself.
I dont know them, so I wouldnt go as far as to call names.
We all only hear gossip, which is a cruel thing for anyone to do to another person. I can understand people not careing for tom, but lets not take it out on the family. Certainly not the child, shes innocent.

how does the way Tom and Katie raise Suri effect you ?

To junior, my kids are adults now and well adjusted, thank you very much. I chose their clothes and hair styles until they were old enough to make the decision themselves. Well, when you are a celeb, and have more money than you need your kids can run your life and tell you what to do. My kids had bratty moments in their life, all kids do.

Well I feel sorry if that little girl doesn't have friends outside her family that are her own age. Does she ever have playdates with non celebrities? Homeschooling is fine but the child needs to socialize with kids her own age and be invited to other kids birthday parties that aren't very lavish. Let her be out in the real world Tom and Katie.

How do you know she doesn't have plenty of friends? I'm sure that Tom and Katie have plenty of friends who aren't famous that have children.
You don't know anything about their lives, and neither do I, so don't make negative snap judgements.
Bella I think scientologists only socialize with their own. Like Jehovahs Witnesses. They leave their non-believer families behind (mother, father sisters & brothers) & only socialize with other Scientologists. Just like JW and just as weird.
When you are idiot's like Kate and Tom and let your little child lead you around by the nose is when your child call's all the shots. Theya are idiot cult member's of scientology, what a joke. Tom is just a CULT leader and Kate and Suri are just his cult following. None of them are stylish why all the big fuss. Suri alway's looks like a bag lady with her ill fitting clothes. These two need to grow up for their child. Suri will grow up to murder people just for the hell of it, they have given no guidance for this child.

Oh get over yourself, the kid is a BRAT. She has NO parent's so what do you expect. She is probably one of those kids that slaps her parent's in the face when she does not get her way in 2 seconds or less. No school, no friends, just her parent's to hang with. They are as bad as parent's as Brad and the Ho.

Thank you.
Katie looks really pretty there, she hasn't looked good in awhile.

Someone needs to explain this homeschooling thing to me--particularly when it's done by parents without teaching credentials. My neighbor's kids homeschool all their kids. They have college degrees, by not in education.

I homeschool my child and I don't have a degree. In fact I never even finished High School. My daughter has to take state standardized tests to make sure she is learning what she needs to learn. Last year she was on the "A" Honor Roll.
Explain to me why you don't think the first teachers (Mom and/or Dad) a child has wouldn't be able to homeschool?
Having a degree and being qualified doesn't mean you're automatically a good teacher.
