Tumor Discovered in Michael Douglas' Throat

Doctors have discovered a tumor in Michael Douglas' throat, PEOPLE reports.

The 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps' star, 65, will undergo radiation and chemotherapy for eight weeks. Doctors expect the actor to make a full recovery.

"I am very optimistic," Douglas said in a statement.

No word whether the lump in his throat is benign or malignant, but doctors expect he'll make a full recovery.

The Oscar-winning actor, 65, is married to Welsh actress Catherine Zeta Jones. They have two children, Dylan Michael and Carys Zeta.

He has won three Golden Globes and two Academy Awards, first as producer of 1975's Best Picture, 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' and as Best Actor in 1987 for his role in 'Wall Street.' Douglas received the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2009.

Douglas will next be seen onscreen reprising his role as disgraced moneyman Gordon Gekko in the anticipated sequel 'Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps,' due out Sept. 24.

I am a neck cancer survivor. If you need miracle surgery my surgeon is dr donald weed at sylvester in miami. My oncologist is one of the brightest in the nation dr dax kurbegov. i was not expected to survive but these two geniuses saved me. my prayers and thoughts are with you as i know first hand how horrible chemo can be along with radiation. dont give up.

Chemo and radiation for mouth or throat cancer is rough. Hopefully his care will be the best and he will do well with the side effects. Michael and his family are in our prayers.

The Douglas family has generations of great actors/actresses. I do hope he pulls through this. Lets all keep in mind that God has a plan for all us, whether we smoke or not but it is up to us to keep our bodies clean of nasty habits. Michael is a parent just like all of us. He walks with worries of his children, too. Just recently his son was in trouble with the law and is currently serving time for some trouble he got into. So not only is he dealing with his health problems, but he has parent problems just like all of us average Americans. So, while you're praying for his health, keep him in mind with his other problems too. They are as real as our problems, too. God bless him.

Wishing Michael Douglas a perfect recovery. I loved him on the old show Streets of San Francisco. He's good in the movie The Game too. Please - anyone who smokes - quit. Dying of lung cancer or emphesema is not pretty. My mother died of emphesema, and it was slow and agonizing. She only blamed herself for smoking, and she quit years before she was diagnosed.
