Mara, who previously appeared in 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' and will next be seen in 'The Social Network,' will play Lisbeth Salander, a fearless genius tormented by a terrible childhood, in the crime thriller. She joins James Bond star Daniel Craig as journalist Mikael Blomkvist, who teams up with Lisbeth to delve into a string of decades-old murders.
An unofficial shortlist surfaced last week listing Sony Pictures' top choices for who should nab the starring role, which included Mara, Ellen Page, Carey Mulligan, Mia Wasikowska and Emily Browning.

Watched the movie "Lady with the Dragon Tatoo" the other night
and had a hard time getting into the movie.....but after about
30 minutes I had to watch all of it to the end. A 2 hour and
30 minute movie.....very interesting....and she does not mind
showing her body. Loved it....

Sorry, but I never heard of her.

That movie has already been made and was very good. Don't fix what isn't broken.

Good choice. She looks a bit like the Girl that was in my minds eye while reading the book.

daniel craig oh my god, did you see him in Bond, he was so bad it was enough to make you choke, now another movie being dragged down by his stupid one diemensional acting, he is a loser.

I really enjoyed all 3 books, and was so excited to see the movie. The Swedish version kept back to back with the books storyline. I will hope that our "hollywood" doesn't change one thing to their own glamour and money hungry version like they ruin all the great books out there that they make into movies.
I am ALWAYS DISAPPOINTED. I hope I am NOT disappointed this time around. STICK TO THE STORY...the author would be rolling in his grave otherwise.

So glad it's not Kristen Stewart or any other A-lister. This Indie darling looks perfect :) Mostly happy Stewart can't be in it to mess it up! :)
I hope Daniel Craig doesn't disappoint!

I meant "A-listers", just because they're popular, doesn't make them GOOD
