Dr. Frank Ryan, 50, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon known for his Heidi Montag makeover and work on stars like Gene Simmons, Vince Neil, Adrianne Curry and Shauna Sand, was killed in a car accident yesterday afternoon. TMZ reports that Ryan's jeep went off the side of the Pacific Coast Highway, smashing onto some rocks. "Lifeguards initially tried to help Ryan, to no avail," TMZ writes. Ryan was trapped in the vehicle with major head injuries; he died at the scene.
Before the accident, Ryan had been hiking near Malibu with his Border Collie, Jill, and shared a photo on Twitter.
New reports claim the plastic surgeon was sending text messages right before the fatal crash. Celebrity publicist Charmaine Blake told PEOPLE that Ryan's family was told by investigators that the Tweeting caused the wreck on Monday. The California Highway Patrol confirms Ryan was texting before the crash, but investigators have not officially determined the cause of the accident.

No one mentioned that texting while driving might have caused his death. Something has to be done. I see it over and over. You cant do both at the same time.

It's sad when anyone dies, but if he was texting while driving then he got what he deserved. He could of taken out someones loved one just as easy. The same goes for talking on the cell while driving. Studies show that this device in your hand or up to your ear effects you the same as if you were driving at the legal limit for alcohol.

Hey Everybody It's Dr. Frank. I'm driving down this crazy dangerous coast road, and tweeting you at the same time, because it's very important that I do that while driving, because you need to know all my thoughts. Wow you should see this viewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now THAT was funny !
Thank God, he didn't cause someone elses death doing a dumb thing. Too bad he died, but at least he didn't make someone else suffer for his stupidity. I don't text, and when I get a cell phone call I pull over to answer it, or let it ring..Not worth my life or someone elses.

It's supposedly against the law to use your cell phone while driving in Calie, which should include texting. What a shame that Dr. Ryan wasn't smart enough (even with his MD) to consider that, let alone for his safety and his dog's safety, instead of believing that a text msg was more important. It is lucky then, that nobody else was injured or killed. Driving on the PCH warrants full concentration anyway because of conditions of the road, traffic, and speeders that are reckless. Apparently celebrity doctors aren't immune from the pitfalls and stupidity of their own egos after all. Sad, but true.
